Boy, that happened fast.
Also, if I hadn't seen the pictures of the respray, I'd be sold on the idea that the paint was, if not original, plenty old. Nicely done, sir.

This is an excellent rectangle

That turned out well.
I expect you'll have it assembled and be gigging it by the weekend at this rate. I thought I was a bit impatient with spraying, polishing and putting together, though I haven't had any issues with mine and I buffed and assembled them both within a week of the final clear coats.
I just noticed your Kill Bill style tag line too.

Haha, well I'm at the mercy of the postal system now. Parts coming from all over the place. I am excited to get it all together... although it'll need to go to my tech for a proper fret level and dress as there's a LOT of very high frets on there that made it near impossible to set up nicely.MrJagsquire wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 8:02 amThat turned out well.

The tag line I actually first heard in some form in the movie 'Kids' in the 90s. I think it's from some old US kids cereal advert or something

Good luck with the post...been having delays on stuff I've ordered too: I'm still waiting for a Sonic Blue hard case I ordered for my Sonic Blue Strat (the one I polished a week after spraying ) and even longer for a plain black hardcase for my Jaguar. Parts wise I've bought quite a few Fender bits from a place in Bradford called First Guitars; really good prices and he replies quickly to emails if you ask about out of stock items.johnnysomersett wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 8:07 amHaha, well I'm at the mercy of the postal system now. Funnily enough my blue Strat is at my usual guy for a fret level and dress. It's an Allparts neck and was actually pretty decent, but I figured it was worth that final tweak as he makes my guitars feel perfect once he's done a levelling job on them.
Kill Bill quote is very similar; something like 'silly rabbit, don't you know tricks are for kids?'.
Will wait to see what it looks like once the postman has been...well about 10 minutes after I guess.

This has been a *chef's kiss* type of turnaround from where this guitar started. I'd lose my mind if I found a '64 Mustang in this finish with this level of wear.

Thanks all
Yeah, it's been a bit of a rollercoaster of emotions for me but I'm pretty satisfied with the outcome. At the end of it all this thing owes me around £875 which, in today's guitar climate, is actually a reasonable deal for what it is. Not that the money concerns me remotely but it's nice to know I might have a pretty nice little thrasher for not much more than a MIJ and a little hard work and heartache.

I am impressed not only by the turnaround but by your ability to make lemonade here, to use a phrase. Not to mention your positive attitude about the whole thing. All around a good story.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.
