Jaguar knob sizes

Hi all - new Jaguar owner here. So apologies for any newbie-ness in what follows, but I have looked and looked and I can't seem to find any simple answers to the following. I have just bought a MIM Jaguar Player and would like to switch out the tone/volume knobs and the 3-way selector knob. Clearly the vol/ton pots have set-screw solid shafts, about 5mm in width. The 3-way selector looks similar to a tele selector.

So - can anyone advise which Fender knobs I should be looking for? - ideally I want cream witch hats and a cream/chrome selector. All are black currently. Do Jazzmaster knobs fit (only cream witch hats I can find are expensive '1965 vintage Jazzmaster')? or Tele knobs? Or both? Or does it all vary?

Grateful for help as I am currently somewhat lost in mm/inch/imperial/metric/split/solid/spline confusion!

Luke

Fits for me. I don't know the technical aspects around the post sizes but I just tried the white jazzmaster witchhat knobs on my jag assembly and it works. The chrome barrel knobs from a tele will work too. They all have a screw that secures it to the post. Not too sure how they fair on split shaft, but I believe they should work on those too. Can't say much about the press-on knobs as I only ever keep those on strats and always replace it on jazzmasters.

I put chrome Telecaster knobs on my player series the same day I bought it as I prefer how it looks with the chrome.

I couldn't leave it there though, so I changed it to single coil PV '65 pickups and striped the paint off and resprayed it in CAR nitro...still with the Tele chrome knobs though. :)

Ha - nice job mate I like it.

I’ve ordered a Pearl cream pickguard first and will then ponder witch hat colours. Will have to wait tho - for some reason there’s a massive delay on all Pearl cream as far as I can work out.

In the meantime I have consoled myself with a silver selector knob.

There’s something about Jags that just begs minor modding. Must be all those switches. Mind you I’ve changed a few on my Les Pauls too.

Wired like a Telecaster, but with an Eric Clapton mid boost under the hex plate. The knob on the hex plate controls the mid boost, the white slide switch is a bypass and connects the pickups directly to the output jack incase of battery failure (they last about 2 years though). Mid boost warms up the sound and the PCB gives a small amount of gain with it off and buffers the output, so turning the volume knob down doesn't roll off the treble.

That's FANTASTIC, I'm all for the on board preamps Mid Boosts, Treble Boosts. I gutted one of Zemaitis guitars, and rewired it with a custom Rangemaster circuit and a G&L PTB (passive treble/bass), and I think might even stick a Descendant Trem on it!

Player jag has 0054522000/0054521000 knobs "KNOB 72 TELE CUSTOM BLACK TONE" / "KNOB 72 TELE CUSTOM BLACK VOL".

Just taken delivery of my cream pearloid pickguard and also - a real mod detail here - a gun-metal coloured oblong knob cover which I am going to try and fit over the top of the coil split selector knob, which is currently black. This will require some careful filing to get it to fit, and some slight enlarging of the relevant pickguard hole.

Will post pics when done - needs to be done by next gig at end August!

But if it works, could be a unique mod - unless someone else on here can post pics of a Jaguar selector slider switch in something other than the usual black....
