What size tip is on your airgun? I think you have to use 1.8mm or larger for flake this large. Probably would be easier with some high grade urethane since the build with that stuff is crazy.

G&L just shake their flake over misted bodies with a sifter, I did it that way on a XII Telemaster a long time ago and I didn't have to put a huge amount of clear on to bury it.

I learned recently the sparkle tops on Gretsch's are drum wrap not paint.

The VI looks awesome.
Thats right. I used a 1.8mm tip with 0.015 size flakes. I definitely will consider urethane intercoat clear next time. I've been having a good experience with the mohawk classic instrument lacquer and stewmac modern clear. The stuff has a very unique feel to it too.
My last 2 were poly clear, which only took 16 coats of clear, vs 40 coats of nitro, plus they were ready to sant d the following day.

What kind of poly was it? 16 coats of clear sounds like a lot! I've been using Tamco lately and 3 coats of clear is incredibly thick and glass like.

Spraymax 2k. It took 3 sessions of 4 coats to get it level, plus an additional session for insurance agains sand through

I agree. It's the best looking VI I have ever seen!

This dude can make an appropriate headstock logo for you. He already makes a Fender VI and can easily make a Squier one:

I can't believe I never saw this thread or commented.

10/10. All my favourite things rolled into one - a less-common Offset, B&B, a unique mod, and SPARKLES!

Although I must admit that I initially thought I was reading "Champagne Sparkle V!" which would also have been among my favourite words I might see together in one sentence.
