Hahah! Thanks.

I think I prefer it with a more Fender-y vibrato arm though. It certainly feels more like home. As yet undecided though...

Amazing mods. I never realized how good a Starcaster would look with a JM style headstock. The vibrato is a great move. The expanded pickguard covering the gap is clever and looks great.

I'd love to see a black Coronado style headstock on it to go with the sunburst and B&B :?

How does it sound/feel acoustically?

Thanks! I am planning on painting the headstock black sometime this week as a nod to the Coronado. Paint is all here ready to go, I just wanted to make sure everything lined up and worked as it should before I moved onto the next step.

Sonically it definitely has a touch more 'twang' to the sound with the vibrato on there, which is no surprise. The body is actually nicely resonant for such a cheap thing too - no complaints there. The real measure of success will be what it sounds like with proper WRHBs and 1meg pots. That's going to be the longest wait for those to land - even if I'm definitely NOT excited to rewire a semi-hollow with my stumpy little fingers 🤣

Oh, nice! I can't wait to see it with the black headstock.

Check out the YouTube video from TV Jones on changing wiring harnesses in hollow bodies. He uses rubber surgical tubing to make it more manageable.

Yeah, a friend sent me that yesterday and it did make it look easier. I was going to try with some string first as I already have some of that... although there's almost certainly some medial style tubing at work somewhere I can borrow. That's a few weeks away though so I'm putting it out of my mind for the time being.

Nice. I've never had to rewire a semihollow, but I do have a friend who used the TV Jones method (or whoever invented it) and sent me that video with the message, "don't try to do this any other way" haha.

Nice! They had a brown one in the shop at the same time but the frets were a little scrappier than the Sunburst so I had to go with that one

Fender-y vibrato arm is definitely a win, keep it! :)

Damn British weather. The light 2 coats of black I put on yesterday bloomed to hell as the humidity shot up suddenly :fp:

Looks like I'll be waiting for a better day for it.

Hah! Oh dear lord, no haha 🤣 I'm a Couch Straps man, through and through (although I do own one Soldier one, admittedly). I would like to pick up some nice old 60s/70s ones again at some point but people want crazy money for the nice ones these days.
