The body I have on my parts Jazzblaster has an angled neck pocket and the inexpensive Mustang bridge I've been using sits pretty high with a lot of rattling. Plus the 7.5 radius of the Mustang bridge is not working well with the Warmoth 10"- 16" radius neck.
I've had a roller tune-o-matic in my parts drawer a couple years ever since I sold my Mascis JM body. I didn't want to get into removing the JM thimbles and redrilling for the larger tune-o-matic studs. However, I wanted to see if I could use the roller bridge before I spent the money on a Staytrem or went the Mastery route. I came up with a hack that seems to be working well.
Here's the roller bridge I want to use...
I got some 1/4" 20 hex head bolts at the hardware store to use as posts for the JM thimbles...
Cut off the tops with a dremel and rounded the edges...
I'm using washers as spacers...
I needed to snug up the fit in the thimbles so I wouldn't have any rocking, I used a couple passes of electrical tape...
Finished product...I gave myself a 50/50 chance this would work before I started...you know what, I really works well...no buzzing, no rattling, no rocking. And the JM trem on the roller bridge is smooth...
