Swatch tribute Telecaster Project - Finally a thread without a weird title
Clear pickguard and all.. Debating on using a Strat neck with a bullet truss rod, I'd have to drill new holes very close tonthe other ones though...
Option 2 would be to get a Tele Thinline Custom neck with the bullet truss rod. The choice is yours.
The parts don't look too crooked. Not bad for freehand drilling. The bridge holes and the back ferrules were drilled though..

That’s a really nice shade of blue. Will look great once it’s all put together.

Got some clear knobs.. Added the jack plate, and took off the plastic from the pickguard.
The knobs won't fit the shafts of any of the CTS pots i have.. Fuuuuck
Bonus flame shot on the Mustang bass

If you take out the grub screws you should be able to drill out the knobs to the same size as the pot shaft.
Great shade of blue, and nice subtle flame on the neck

If i drill out the knobs, they won't look smooth inside anymore. Not sure i want them looking so roughed up.
Ill find a different set of knobs.

You absolutely need one of these.

Re: Swatch tribute Telecaster Project - Finally a thread without a weird title
So, I got a beautiful Tele Custom Vintera neck, it came predrilled with 4 holes. I thought it was a 4 hole standard neck but this one is drilled for a 3 bolt plate.
I got it from the Stratosphere, so im assuming Fender drilled 2 extra holes for no reason? So yeah, Standard 4 bolt plate would require new holes drilled on the new neck..
So because of that, I opted to drill yet a third set of holes on this neck, so i present to you..

.
Fun guitar.
You mentioned clear knobs? That would be cool if you could get something to work. You might try pouring some epoxy buttons and drilling them out then polishing up.
Try rotating the control plate for Vol-Tone-Switch to the rear. The 'Kirchen mod'. I use it on every tele I play regularly so a normal control plate looks weird now A reverse plate would go with with the alternative neck/etc mods.
Have you thought of using a clear control plate to match the pickguard? A filler strip with the same paint as the body (or painted on the back side of the clear control plate) might be fun.
That's a great shade of blue.

Ha, thanks, I'm not a fan of the upside-down tele control plate.
The last pic i posted is the one that looks the closest to the real colour. All the other ones look way off.
I have some ivory witch hat knobs coming for it, same colour switch tip, and that will complete this random unscheduled project.

Ok, so i gave in and drilled holes on the Vintera neck. I really wanted a Tele, and to me, the headstock is part of the look.

The tele custom neck was definitely the right choice.
