Jazzblaster Wiring... could this work?

Post by Jazzprod » Sun Jun 01, 2008 1:06 pm

This is for a project on the way that I've been turning my head inside out for.  :wtf:

Sorry if the schematics is a mess....

I would like it to work like this:

Rotary switch:
1. Neck thin
2. Neck
3. Neck + Bridge
4. Bridge

The upper mustang switches will each split one off the PU's so you can choose either first or second half of the HB sliding the switch towards the neck or towards the bridge.
Middle position will short the PU so it works like stock for the rotary/main controls.

The two pos switch just toggles between the upper controls and the Rotary switch/main controls.

I've got a treble bleed resistor and as the Jaguar.

This is my first attempt so I might have missed something OR it doesn't work at all... :-[

Ideas anyone?

I'm lost in the wires!

It's too late for schematics reading I guess......

I'll look at it tomorrow, but others may chime in as I'm quite a noob myself hehe...
Someone knows where I can find the nearest woodchipper to throw my pieces of junk into?

theres one problem with mustang switches in the top there, they dont fit in the guitar rout without using a chisel to make em fit. :wtf: its not easy to do.
i know,i had them in my cij jaguar for phasing.

Bump.
Should I break it down in Pu wiring and pot wiring?

Sorry Daniel - I haven't had the time... Maybe tonight. I wass hoping for mad scientist Koyl or Ben (theworkoffire) to chime in on this one.

Fuck Daniel - I get an headache everytime i I try to look into that! haha.

I'm not that skilled to tell if it's allright or if somethings wrong - I finally get it what you want with the wiring though (I think). haha

The separate parts seem right though - the mustang slides; the rotary etc....

There's just one question that springs to mind: Will you be able to fit all whose wires in there?

Ok, sorry for the mess...  :-[

He re is a breakdown of the split PU's and the mustang switches only.
I realized I have to come up with a way to take the Mustang switch signal to the main vol and tone controls...:

Some questions - to clear things up:

- In "rythm" pos - were is the connection to the pups? You have a signal from the vol pot => switch => output (jack, I presume) - no pups involved...

- In "Mustang switch" mode they don't go to the vol/tone, or?

- Is the middle pos on the mustang switches - is the signal going out through the lower middle lug that is next to the brown wire? Or do you have any parallell wires to the rotary? In any case - the middle pos will be silent in the Mustang switch mode I think.

:)

Yes, the middle pos mustang switches will be silent, BUT will also short the coils of the PU.
I'm working on a better schematic... ;) coming soon...

thanks,

Sorry I'm late with this  -  I'm sure there's a way of doing this that just uses one mustang switch without the need for the rhythm switch either. All you need to do is short the wire that connects the coils to either the hot or ground to give you either of the coils. If you wire the other pickup to the same switch but with the hot and ground reversed you'll get the opposite coils on each pickup.

Image

Your switching should then be:

1: top3neck + bottom3bridge
2: standard humbucker
3: bottom3neck + top3bridge

When just one pickup is selected you can use the mustang switch to cut it either way, but both pickups together will be the best.

I'm really intrigued by this - it completely cocks up all my wiring plans for the BuickMaster but I'm going to give it a try with the GFS widerange copies I have in there at the moment.

Yes, I see what you mean but I'm going to have the humbucking sounds with the main controls so I'd like to have the mustang switches available to play around in every way they can (single coil-wise)  ::)

+ I get the two-way to work as a kill switch when in "main control/rotary switch-mode"

Check it out:

Oh, the rotary is a 2-pole / 6 way(?).
