Blendable coil-splitting (like the new MIM Jag HH) ?

Post by Ender76 » Fri Jun 06, 2008 9:05 am

Hey, has anybody figured out how the new blendable coil-splitting in the new MIM Jaguar HH is wired?  I'm giving serious consideration to getting some Seymour Duncan JB Jr's for my Jag Bari Custom and trying out this wiring scheme...

It's just a variable resistor that gradually shorts the centre of the humbucker to ground.

Andy Rothstein has being doing it with Jazzmasters for a while: http://www.guitar-mod.com/rg_jm_samples.html

He used to have a JM circuit diagram up on his site but he removed it. I have it somewhere but it's fairly easy to work out using the SD diagram. Let me know if you have problems...

Excellent!  Are those both just standard volume pots?

For a US/vintage bracket you need 16mm pots with an 1/8" diameter shaft - Banzai sell them: http://www.banzaieffects.com/CTS-270-50 ... 24648.html
