Allparts D&B Jaguar necks group order (it is possible!)

I have an Allparts account in the U.S. and I might consider acting as the billing intermediary if Allparts is willing drop-ship directly to the customer. If not, the logistics (especially international shipping) may be more than I'm willing to commit to unless I'm able to build in a profit (pricing the necks closer to retail).

I am assuming that, after the initial order, these necks might be available directly from Allparts or through authorized resellers, at least for a limited time, and I don't want to be stuck competing to sell excess inventory against shops like Stratosphere.

However, acting as an "Allparts Group Buy" exclusive reseller might be an interesting side-hustle. With permission, I can reach out to my contact there to discuss details and logistics. Thanks!

I'm set up as a dealer from... uh... 13-14 years ago, I think. It was something I ended up not doing much with a year later and just let lapse. I'm still set up with a dealer account on the website, though.

The problem is that both AllParts' website/files have moved and I've moved three times since, so somewhere along the line both AllParts and I have misplaced my tax exempt paperwork. I have to hit up the IRS to get my FEIN again and then re-file for tax-exempt status. Otherwise, sales tax sucks. LOL

I‘ll go check if drop shipping might be available - or at least if the shipment could be split in an US and an EU part.
We still try to fill up the 30 so that there won‘t be any unnecessary excess inventory.

Maybe it would be easier to just convince this person to order D&B jaguar necks via pre order? They sell tons of finished Allparts necks dirt cheap.

Aesthetically I'm with MTFBWY, although I typically don't mind non-bullet headstock access THAT much.

I'm thinking it's OK to let the group-buy concept grow and get specs finalized in this thread, but once we get to the point of placing an order with Allparts, I'll go ahead and start a for-sale thread in the classifieds. I don't like taking deposits, so I'm thinking I'll just place the order myself and sell necks here, on ebay, and Reverb. I'm assuming Allparts will not drop-ship, but I'll confirm that's the case in the next day or so.

Does anybody object to that approach?

I connected with my contact at Allparts, and we have a green light to proceed.

REMINDER:

For special order necks Allparts has a minimum/multiple order quantity of 30 necks since they come 30 in a box. So, any special-order neck run spec would have to done in lots of 30.

PROCESS:

Allparts gets all the specs from the distributor (me) and then they run that by their supplier in Japan to get a quote. Once they have the quote they will contact me and I'll relay that info in a for sale thread here in the classifieds. If approved by the group and after a deposit has been made (by me), Allparts will make the order and will provide a rough ETA. I confirmed that Allparts will not ship these directly to customers, so the box of 30 necks would have to be shipped straight to me.

I will only collect money once a neck is ready to ship and I will offer these for sale here, on Reverb, and on eBay. I will price single necks at 80% of Allparts retail and will offer the occasional 15% sale and/or bulk discount just like all the big retailers do.

DETAILS TO BE FINALIZED:

-The fret size. Our supplier offers the following fret sizes: Jumbo (0.118” x 0.055”), vintage tall (0.079” x 0.55”), or vintage (0.079” x 0.043”)
-If you’d like these finished or unfinished. If you’d like these finished we can do gloss poly or gloss nitro over poly (one shot of poly for the base coat with nitro sprayed over top)
-Where and what type of truss rod? Our supplier can do heel access with a + style nut or the bullet style truss rod access at the headstock.

Is everybody OK with this approach?

It's my pleasure.

I have my own project in the works with Allparts, so this gives me another reason to stay in close contact. Who knows, maybe Lowe Custom Guitars will morph into an Allparts reseller and group buy specialist.

I noticed the old Allparts JGRO page listed the neck as 21-frets but pictured a 22-fret neck. I assume that's a typo, yes?

Also, does the JGRO shown below have the headstock shape everybody prefers?

On frets, I'd recommend vintage tall, and on truss rod, we've agreed on heel adjust. With those gaps filled in, do we have final specs for pricing?

I will plan to get pricing for finished vs. unfinished, but It seems as though unfinished necks hit the value mark more easily than finished necks do, especially for the DIY nitro and Tru-oil crowd.

AllParts needs a copywriter for their descriptions. Some of them are extremely lacking.

Also, it seems as though an unfinished neck hits the value mark more easily that a finished neck does.

I agree about the unfinished value.

Also, vintage tall frets are probably the best compromise for all. Get some good height for those that like it but can also be leveled to a more vintage height if it's that big of a deal. I personally just like vintage tall frets these days.
