BM Starbastard (Starcaster? Starblaster?) Finished
I've been wanting a starcaster forever and I've had an extra Bilt neck and saw a Rosser body on ebay...so what am I waiting for?
I sent this to copacetic a bit ago:
I was really struggling with what color to choose, but we finally decided on burgundy mist:
I am hoping to have it in my hands, soon!
The plan is:
-Firebird (under jazzmaster covers) pickups made by Tim @ Sunday Handwound
-1 meg pots
-Mastery bridge and vibrato, but not sure.
-Pickguard (or no? Could look cool with or without)
-D or C# standard tuning
Very excited to build this up!

Pretty!
How did you end up with a stray Bilt neck?

I had Bilt convert a relevator that I had bought used to a baritone scale.
The plan originally was to be able to go back and forth between 25.5” and 27” scale, but nah…
Perfect excuse to build a new guitar.

Very nice!
Cool color!
I‘m missing these bodies from Rosser… they just make Bridge-PU only with Stop-Tail-Piece atm - but I think Saylor offer them from time to time…
I just sold my only extra 25,5“ neck… but putting my PAF sized under JM-covers has been among my ideas.

It seems like Rosser went to a different business model? When I bought this body back in April 2023 I was able to pick pickup and vibrato routes, but it seems they are doing finished/painted bodies now.MayTheFuzzBeWithYou wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 12:49 amVery nice!

Re: Starcaster-esque project (Burgundy Mist)!
All done! Need to take better photos with some natural light...hopefully it stays cloudy tomorrow for that good-good lighting.
I'd say it's not 100% complete. I still want to mess around with maybe different knobs or pickup covers and make a decal that says "FUCKER Starbastard", but those are minor details.
Unfortunately, the Sunday Handwound Firebird under JM covers pickups didn't work because the body was not routed deep enough. Luckily, I had a Sunday Handwound Fat-52 neck and his "Toastermaster" bridge (BIG magnets, low-output). I have tuned to D-standard and it sounds really wonderful!

Ty Ty! I've been playing it all morning and really enjoying it. I think I am pretty close to not wanting/needing more gear...

Uhh...it's a surprisingly hard color to capture. The lighting in my apartment isn't helping either.
Anybody have thoughts on the cover colors and knobs? I am still not 100% that this looks best with the burgundy mist...
