Thousand bucks for Gibson pickups

Post by burpgun » Fri Jan 19, 2024 7:46 am

Welp, Gibson finally did it. The ultimate blues lawyer shakedown: $1K guitar pickups. Complete madness.

This might not be the correct part of the forum for this post...
Jazzmaster project (got a body, placeholder neck, some pickups and ideas)
Tokai Telecaster Thinline with Creamery Pickups Filtertron and Tapped Tele
Blake Mills-inspired Strat project w/ Gold Foil and slide pickup

Moderators, happy to see this moved to most relevant spot, but figured replacement picksup squared with "Mods & Projects"

It's very embarrassing being a guitar player at times.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

Looks like they also just launched some firebird pickups.

How much has an actual set of real '59 PAFs been going for lately?

That's pretty cool. Priced competitively. They had been putting ceramic pickups on Firebirds for a long time and started doing the Alnico again, so I suppose they are putting them out for sale.

They are also selling the Alnico Thunderbird pickups, but I don't know it that's new.

Nice that they come in a case though. I often struggle with where to keep my pickups when I’m not using them.

Still cheaper than the Seymour Duncan Zephyr pickups.

Pure madness yet again from Gibson. Just when you thought, you had seen it all.
When are they dropping the Murphy Lab aged version for 2K?

Gibson seems to be more interested in the high-price, limited edition strategy a lot of watch brands are doing.

But I don't even know what to make of this. I love a good magnet wrapped in copper wire but that's nuts.

I hate it when my pickups and weed fight over storage space.

Who uses pickups anyway? I keep mine in velvet-lined cases inside a glass display cabinet.
