wiring the rhythm circuit into direct-through switch

Post by cassparticle » Tue Apr 22, 2025 3:51 pm

does anybody know how to wire the rhythm circuit on a jazzmaster (specifically a classic vibe 60s jazzmaster) into a direct-through switch? essentially the setup i’m trying to get is a high-output neck pickup running straight to the jack but i was having some struggles with wiring it and i’d appreciate it if anybody knew how to do it! this is my first post here sorry if i lack etiquette or have missed a post detailing my needs, im definitely a newb and could not find one.. thank you in advance :3
(PS please use baby terms i’m very new and very dumb thank you)

This is actually quite simple, since the rhythm circuit already goes right to the jack after it passes through the volume and tone in the rhythm circuit. Because of this, all you need to do is to bypass the wire that goes to and from the volume/controls and just connect those two lugs. Here's a diagram of a standard rhythm circuit wiring:

So unsolder the blue and green wires, and just wire those two lugs at the top of the rhythm switch together. Hopefully that helps!
