Neck PU problem.
Okay the circuit of the neck PU on my 63 gave up on me.
Symptoms: In Lead Circuit, it's dead. When using rhythm circuit,
it's okay. I first figured it would be the toggle switch, but when examining
the innards I couldn't spot any loose wires or such. What's the first thing
I should check for before tearing the whole thing apart?
Cheers, M

Re: Neck PU problem.
if the toggle connections are OK, It may be in the little slider switch up near the roller pots. The neck pickup is wired to that first, and through there to the toggle. Those switches are tempremental. Usually the problem is that the rhythm circuit won't work, not the main. I find when it happens that "gently" squeezing the switch (pressing the back of the switch into the housing) will fix it. The little tabs that hold the back in tend to come loose.
The good news is that the pickup itself is working...
Edited to add:
Also check the red wire from the toggle at the lower right contact of the slider switch:

Re: Neck PU problem.
Thanks! Maybe this is not as much of a hassle as I thought...
The connections look fine, so I unscrewed the slider, I gave it the treatment.
I don't have an amp here right now, but I'll see after this weekend.
I would be very happy if that was the fix.
This sure feels like telepathic brain surgery.

Re: Neck PU problem.
I hope it worked.
If not, I'm sure whatever it is will be fixable, since the pickup still works and the switches are just connectors.

Re: Neck PU problem.
do you get an crackle or noise when you roll the roller pots? are you trying to keep original solder joints intact?
