Notes
The lipstick pickups are smaller than what I anticpated. Kind of bummed about this but at least they were cheap. After I do some more research I'll get bigger lipsticks that fit the Jag size better. What the hell does Oliver use? I went by a quote of his saying TOG lipsticks (which is what these are).

good point

I've been flirting with other color options.
I have a tad bit of sonic blue left from another project. Though probably not enough for the whole body.

Here is my photoshop fun for BAJ BAJ BAJ!!!
The mint green guard does look pretty cool.

Still leaning towards a 2 tone burst but that surf green is sexy.

i cant tell if the pickups are bigger or if the pickguard route are smaller.
This Jag of his was originally a Japanese sunburst Jag so the pickguard is definitely a replacement guard.

This one is kinda cool.

If anything I'd love to have an on board delay unit 8)
Electronics can always wait... I can imagine some pretty cool ways to integrate a delay... like tap tempo on the lower horn :w00t:

Also; the mockups with your parts... Brilliant :D

Yeah I like that one a lot :)
I love the black outline of the Jag body!

Also it looks like a black and white sunburst. Hmmm.. tempting.

I think I'm gonna experiment with that ghost finish with some cheap-o black and white spray cans!
If it sucks I could go back to my original plan.
If the original plan sucks then I'll go all black.

Oh yeah I don't know if I mentioned this or not but the back is going be black regardless of the color I go with. Besides the fact that sometimes I'm lazy, I think it's cool.

So psyched!

the pickups you've bought appear to be Lipstick pups for a strat, they're not as wide as the Dano ones.
Oliver uses the Dano ones.

my bloody valley pine wrote:i once talked to oliver about his guitar, they are pickups from a charvel surfcaster, so they are chandler lipstick pickups. hunting them down isnt so much expensive, as it can be futile, it took me quite a few months to track a decent pair down. also the other output is a overdriven high frequency boost setting. he doesn't use it as much as he used to, but he used to wire both them up, and use an a b selector, it was essentially a built in effect
That's not surprising if his chandlers are anything like my early '90s Chandler lipsticks! :D

I'm gonna wire two lipsticks in series for my crazy jagmaster project.

Also if you get your hands on the seymour duncan lipsticks, they have assembly parts for pickguard mounting for strats. The problem with the Danelectro ones is the mounting parts are too tall for a standard fender pickup route.

As I await the body and neck I'm currently crushing on this one.

It reminds me of a hybrid Buddy Holly-Kurt Cobain-Oliver Ackerman thing.
I dig.

according to google, "Prospect's BAJ project" was the most searched term in recorded history over the last week.
I felt obligated to share a progress report.

Image
Body came in from Paul/Stereordinary and I was taken back by how awesome his work is.
The contours are smooth, and all the routes are super clean. The routes look cleaner than most factory made Jag's I've seen.
The neck fits nice and tight. Neck pocket is more precise and snug than the CIJ body the neck came with!

It came in with a prelimary black finish and I was tempted to leave it but I have too many black guitars as is, and I really want a two tone burst.

I have a bit of ways to go as far as the finish goes but it's already looking boneriffic.
I haven't done any black or tinted spraying so ignore the finish for now.

The mockup shows a cardboard pickguard that I cut out and painted. The project is officially over budget so I will be posting the stuff I didn't use (CIJ Jag body, pickups, etc..) on eBay.
