The normal way of thinking about a momentary stutter switch might be to use a "push to break" switch, which basically severs the signal when you push it. If you cant find one of those you can use a "push to make" (i.e. the doorbell example) and use it to ground the output signal when you press it.

nope. they're momentary switches. you might have to look for a "push to break" instead of a "push to make"
I know they are momentary, but I always pictured then as OFF and then (ON) to activate the bell sounds. I'm probably missing something, but I can't see how they can make a sound if it's ON-(OFF), and therefore not powered when the button is pressed. :derp:
When wiring a kill switch, you actually want an OFF-(ON) switch to short your output to ground, thus keeping the circuit closed. If you simply open the circuit, like you would with an ON-(OFF) switch, you'll get that annoying 'something's not grounded' buzz every time you press it. This one really confused my when I decided I wanted a kill switch on the first guitar I ever built :)

so my plans for the telemaster xii got pushed back (the bridge i have needs to have the body altered) but i had a back up plan in case of this. i had 2 telemaster builds i wanted to do and this is one of them.

Image

i'm going to be going with a kinda dark orange colour. that neck is temporary, it's actually getting the neck and neck pickup from my bandmate's telecaster. i'm tempted to do orange over black so when the guitar wears, the black shows through.
What kind of wood you used for the body here?
I made myself a Telemaster few years back....but it's kinda abandoned because it' heavy as hell!

Body is alder...
What is the thickness of your TM body?

mine is ash. i like heavier guitars though. i dunno bout thickness though. it's about on par with my other 2 telemasters though.

Electrically, doorbell type are non latching, normally open switches. You push it to complete the circuit, it doesn’t latch or hold that setting, you release it and it reverts to an open circuit.
I don’t know about stutter switches, but this type could effectively act as a momentary kill switch, done quickly it will stttttuuuuter.

Pushing along a bit with the SD4/L clone- I'm using a kind of Firebird-ish raised centre section to get those bulky lumps of metal down out of the way a bit- works for me visually, and it also may be marginally easier not to hit the switches unintentionally. I have suspected that the body may need to be thinned down a few mms, and having the pieces mocked up on the front confirms it. I'll do some serious swiss cheesing of the body as well to get the weight down before the Formica goes on.

That is so cool. Is this a prototype, ie, will you make one from proper timber afterwards?

Thanks! The plan is to do ply because that's what the originals are- like they could be cut out of an old Formica dining table. ;D The ones I've seen have solid painted sides, this one will make a feature of the ply with red tinted clear on the edges. Basically leftover materials and ideas from this bench top:
