Is this a completely standard Jaguar in the body shape, with the body just being acrylic? Can't put my finger on it, but there's something here that appeals to me greatly, haven't been able to put it out of my mind properly, having seen it in the alternative pickup thread....

no. it's not. so the body is a aria legend body which is based on the fernandez style jazzmaster/jagmaster body style which is about 12% smaller than a normal jazzmaster body. if you've ever played one of the stagg jagmaster style guitars, those are based on the same template. my bandmate has a guitar that started out life as one of those staggs.



my friend also has a kinda jazzmaster which is based off the body shape but i dont have a picture of it

After. In brief, the lightest 2 piece ash body I've ever handled (it sounds so good I'm reluctant to refinish), glendale bridge, 4 way wiring, Warmoth short scale conversion in roasted maple, SS frets, locking sperzels, finished in true-oil:

just out of the bench need some tweaking again (string T ?(at this time no need for it° put some fhc screws on trem that i don't have yet)








it is set up now and i have try it ,sound like a jag for me but with the advantage of 25,5 scale where i am less lost than 24 scale
i have to invert the neck pickups wires cause fender62 and peter leonard pickups are out of phase ,the rythm circuit where i have put a 1 meg volume and 250k tone is less bright and a little less powerfull than the lead circuit (1meg for all)
something stange when you put more than one pickups (2 or 3) the volume is less ? i don't remember well if it was the case in a jaguar ?(i find it to in my bass VI) ,the serial bridge and middle pickups works well with more level and crispy tone but if you have the bridge selected only and if you select the serial switch it cut the sound !
(maybe i will try to connect the neck in middle in serial too but for this i have to pick up the thin switch for it and put it in the control plate with the jack and the lead circuit control ,for that i have to make the switch hole in the plate )it is not for now i will play it like this for some times before cause i am fed up with building and i haven't much time to
my varnish is not good as i want, need a another coat on the body and it is not for now cause the weather have changed to much (and i don't have time and envy to do now will wait for better conditions and that i have more motivation like next year )

^^ Good idea just to put it together and play it. Painting can be a nightmare, it must be my least favourite part of building. What you've done is awesome!

new pickguard arrived so just finished off the jagmasterblaster.


im not bonding with the neck and the tuners are still stupid and faffy.... but it sounds good

this times are complicated and du to weather ,times ect .... i prefer stop and play than continu varnishing ,(we have more than 30 ° 2 weeks ago and now we have less than 20°and it is really windy and rainy ,as i don't have a spray booth it become too complicated to do (more over it is sparkle and sparkle move with time the fact of letting it dry before putting another coat on will be a good way to have something cleaner at the end ) as i see it move already a little (drying time is really longer than i espect(i let it dry already 4 weeks) ,when i have time and weather for it will be easyer to sand it to 320 grit and put a new coat on and let it dry a week
and during this wait i prefer play it than seeing lying in the garage dismantled maybe my varnish is too old cause it was not trouble free this time but time will tell and i don't want to spend too much time now on it cause when i build i don't play and i have fews others things to do guitars or not guitars related

I'm looking at ordering some JM pickups, and I think I've decided on a pair of Novaks (JM-FAT for bridge, JM-V for neck). I've never bought JM pickups before and was wondering if lefty needed to be specified? It doesn't look like the pole pieces are asymmetric, but I just wanted to be sure, and Mr. Novak himself hasn't responded to my query.

Turns out bass VI tuning is totally possible on a normal scale guitar, but you have to be creative regarding the anchoring of the two lowest strings (I'm using a 5 string bass set with a low .125) if you're lazy like me and don't want to buy some bass tuners !

It obviously still needs a setup.

I'm actually trying to shoot a video of the whole process, stay tuned !

This is awesome! I am assuming that you're running two Jag pickups, where you can use them as singles or series like a humbucker?

Thanks for the quick reply! I don't hate the pickups in my CV JM, but I hate that they glued the covers to them, and I've been craving a set of Novaks for a LONG time. I can't imagine that I'll dislike them, and if they aren't to my taste, I imagine I can move them on fairly easily.
