The latest bit of nonsense- converting my Teisco SS4/L to an SD4/L, but with some tweaks Ply body to be capped front and back with Formica, just like the original, but I figured it may need to be even more Daliesque than it already was, so I've concaved the back...

What is this madness??
You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

That is really cool & super neat, Kifla.
Those pickups must have one hell of an output with those neo pole pieces! I've never used neo myself in my pickups. Is it fair to assume that those sound really detailed and hi-fi?

Re: What's on your workbench right now?
I was wondering the same thing. Did Fender use neodymiums for the version 1 Marauders for that reason? So the pickups would read the strings since they were farther away (hidden under the guard)?epizootics wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 10:23 pmThat is really cool & super neat, Kifla.

Nice work. Do you glue the top and bottom pieces onto the magnets? If so, what glue?
What is the black material you use?
I use neodymium magnets for my pickups and think they are pretty good.

Looks interesting. Is that a Jazzmaster outline?antisymmetric wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 11:28 pmThe latest bit of nonsense- converting my Teisco SS4/L to an SD4/L, but with some tweaks Ply body to be capped front and back with Formica, just like the original, but I figured it may need to be even more Daliesque than it already was, so I've concaved the back...

Re: What's on your workbench right now?
^^Sort of Jazzmaster-inspired I'd say- the bass side is quite close, but the treble side is kind of melted. Image search Teisco SD4/L and you'll see what I mean.

Re: What's on your workbench right now?
No, Fender Marauder Type I prototype(s) used alnico rods, slightly thinner and much longer than standard polepieces.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 10:31 pmI was wondering the same thing. Re: What's on your workbench right now?
Yes, using Loctite 401glue.
Black material is forbon (vulcanized fibre) sheet from e-Bay.
There was a guy from Arizona who made 'em .... not able to find him anymore, but there are few
items offerd by someone in Pennsylvania that look exatcly like mines...and it says "refurbished"

To je dobar zvuk! Very spanky. That really makes me want to start experimenting with neodymium.kifla wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 8:48 amI like the sound of those pickups...so the owners of Marauders I made by me.epizootics wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 10:23 pmThat is really cool & super neat, Kifla.

Do you source your vulcanized fibre locally? I remember there were a lot of cool industries operating on the outskirts of Zagreb.
edit: ah, apparently not

How do you know those things?
Ne odgovarm više ništa bez objašnjenja!
No, when I am in Houston I try to source as much material as I can which I can't find here
