Yup!
Got pissed that people upcharge lefty bodies...if you have
well adjusted CNC, it just the matter of changing your direction pin for X axis from 0 to 1.
No need to be prick about it. Why charge someone more based on their dexterity?

... as for myself, yesterday I turned this plank

(it was actually a cheap pine shelf, but that doesn't sound as striking )

Ayyy! I love this kind of stuff. What's the plan for pickups?
If it wasn't for disappointment, I wouldn't have any appointments.

Re: What's on your workbench right now?
I'm actually planning on doing two builds with the same body shape, but with some significant variations. One will have Neptone lipstick pickups I've had on the shelf for ages, and the other one trisonics partially because they have similar dimensions and partially because they should work well for the intended use (based on Youtube demos). Both projects are about to resolve some questions and try out ideas that I've had for years by now, so I'm pretty eager to see these through. I'm waiting for some tools and parts that I've ordered, which will probably take at least a few weeks to arrive, but I think I should be able to resolve the design issues during this time.seenoevil II wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 5:58 pmAyyy! Guild update:
Yeah, glad I waited for the second guard. The celluloid was both easier and harder to work with than the plastic. I'm not super happy with the surface finish.
I knew that I'd blow the tape down after hours of careful shaping and polishing.
... but, I think it passes the 3 foot test with flying colors. I'm super happy to have resolved the spundboard crack and fended off future ones.
I look forward to playing it more and more! Next step? K&K MINI mini.

Re: What's on your workbench right now?
The body should be roughly the size of a Harmony Stratotone H44 (but the shape is different, stole that elsewhere ), so was thinking of doing one with a copper/bronze acrylic spray can that I have already. The other one I haven't decided on yet. Not a pure white or black, at least. I want to try to allow me the option to not have a pickguard, but it might be required to balance some colors or to get the look "right". A dano-style two color thing might be fun, but not sure I can manage it with rattle cans alone.seenoevil II wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 11:38 amNeat! Keep us posted. The Duplicolor thread is your friend here. The methods discussed are cheap and effective. Lots of eye candy in there too.

I'm proselytizing this idea ever since I did it, but get a big bag of dewaxed shellac and a bottle of denatured alcohol. It has to be the easiest, most forgiving, least toxic finish to work with that you can make on demand.

Re: What's on your workbench right now?
I've read that thread multiple times, but since I'm over in Europe, we don't really have the assortment of duplicolors available that are used on the guitars. I've seen a few dupli-color-labeled cans now and then, but they're all pretty indistinct (bland) colors most of the time. I guess I could try asking one of the stores if they can order the cans especially, but if that comes at any kind of premium it's almost cheaper to get a custom mix. In both cases, actually finding the right color codes and / or color names across brands is a pain. If I f.e. search for some of the color codes mentioned in the thread, I haven't been able to find direct matches. Not sure if that's because of some colors not being used globally or what.seenoevil II wrote: ↑Wed Apr 10, 2024 6:26 ambodhi wrote: ↑Wed Apr 10, 2024 12:00 amThe body should be roughly the size of a Harmony Stratotone H44 (but the shape is different, stole that elsewhere ), so was thinking of doing one with a copper/bronze acrylic spray can that I have already.
