Yep! I bought 4 packs of them and have a few left over. I've never really messed with JB weld in any form. I'm glad that's an alternative as I've always heard that CA glue can sometimes melt and fuck up plastic/rubber.
If you don't need a structural bond, the JB Quick (5-minute version) is great stuff. It sticks to almost anything. I use it for many things. Here I used it to modify a pattern I cut wrong. Note the grey of the JB Weld I used to bond in the modifications.
Thanks for that! I have to stop by the store tomorrow after work, so I'll grab some for sure. I was thinking tonight that I might clearcoat my organizers that I know are a final version, so I don't have to screw with remaking them later. I'll have to wait to glue the holders until after that, but that's no big deal.

damn. that is some aspirational organisation.
Thanks Nik! Kind of you to say! It was suggested a while back by a fellow OSG member, but in the next couple weeks I should be getting a new phone (this one is dying so bad), and once I do, I'll get pictures of my walls and all the organizers put into their own thread just for the hell of it!

here is the next step of my build...

Now that's simply... :?
You always seem to build your guitars really fast, which is pretty amazing since you don't seem to rely much on standard parts. Dang, it would take me two weeks just to decide on the on/off rocker switches I'd want to use on a build like that. :)

Talking of switches, I've had something in my head for a few months and I still don't know if it's a good idea or a useless gimmick. The idea would be to use a few reed switches under a plastic plate with an underlying ferromagnetic structure so you can get (a) magnet(s) to stick in certain areas and close the corresponding switch(es). Essentially a series of magnetic of ON/OFF switches. I'm thinking it could be used to switch from one pickup to another really fast and create some kind of crude, manual filter effect. I can see a bunch of problems with this design - one can easily lose the magnets on stage; latch time on the reed switches themselves; how fragile those things are; a possible 'click' sound every time a switch is activated; etc. but I like the idea of a 'no button/lever' pickup selector. Does it sound totally stupid to you guys?

Thanks Sebastien!! The trade-off here is that you guys get more guitar projects finished :D Organization makes me happy, and the end result will be that I'll be able to work on projects more quickly/efficiently when I get to that point.

Ok. That’s just a bit too cool. 8)

Must know what switches do and how those pickups work/what they are!

Thanks
thanks. they are on/off switches for each pickup. i have each of the four coils separate for maximum tonal options.

haha thanks. yeah, once i start something i usually cant stop til its done. just blast through everything.
that switching idea sounds really cool and interesting but potentially finicky and problematic in a real world scenario. i would like to see that though. build a prototype!

- Guitarmill lightweight swamp ash body
- Finishing / relicing by Bloomdoom
- All Rosewood Fender neck (American Pro LE)
- Spitfire pickguard

I'm planning to add :
- Rothstein dual dial-a-tap wiring with Curtis Novak Goldfoil Humbuckers similar to those used by Mike in this video : https://youtu.be/dMTwxQ0O6ds
- This pickup cover : Image
- Descendant vibrato
- Staytrem bridge (I have friends living in UK)
- Gotoh tuners

I just want all the best parts available...so this guitar will probably cost me around 2000, which is a lot for a partscaster....but would be the double if made by the Custom Shop...

Thank you to all who replied. The pickup cavity has been routed and the ground wire installed. I'm thinking of using this bridge. It's the XGP bridge by Guitarfetish. The advantage it has over other tuneomatic bridges is that two of the saddles can be removed without it looking like something is missing. The saddles are also wide enough to accommodate two strings.

Thanks man!! I'm quite proud of things so far. I'm excited to get to the point where everything is reasonably easy and/or quick to get to, where I have the tools/accessories that go with each tool close at hand, so I can just get to work without too much set up. That day is coming, though it'll likely be after the wedding when we get a house. The nice thing there is that we will likely be staying in the apartment for a few years as the school district our daughter is going to is the best in the state. She's doing really well there, and that would be a hard thing to give up. Unless we find a house in that school district, but the neighbors are very conversative/Republican/trumpers, and we aren't fans of that. So we will see.

Anywho!

My assembly table has been really handy the last year or so, and I've recently upgraded some things to make it easier and more convenient. At the bottom of the table frame, I added four little straight caster wheels (two on each side), to make getting it lined up with my sawhorses easier. I made two little assemblies with wheels (four wheels on each, one with straight casters, the other with swivel casters) and a pair of handles to help move it around easier.

Image
Image
After wiring up my garage and walls last weekend, I was really in an electrical mood, so I decided to add power to the bottom of the assembly table, since I use it for everything anyways. I added four small single-gang boxes with a single duplex outlet each, at each of the four corners. I used the leftover 14ga extension cord from the walls to wire it up. I bought a new 25' extension cord for the main power cord, and used coat hangers to coil it all up :D

I posted this last week. I finally finished making the "cabinet" that the shelves would go into:

Image
It's so nice finally having the little 14" shelf pieces not sitting on my various saws. This thing is heavy, but super solid. LOVING it so far.

Image
Sneak peak: I bought a new black anodized guard from Gdayj for my Squier CV JM. Once it gets here, I'm gonna wire it up with my "ultimate JM" schematic, where I have a 3-way slider in both the lead and rhythm circuits, like having presets. I still need to order some new pickups for it, but that's not a big deal. Just need to decide if I'm going to order some Novaks like I've always wanted, or some Lollars since I can't seem to get ahold of Mr. Novak. It kinda worries me that he's hard to get in contact with. Still thinking about that one...
