Very nice workspace! I finally made it done to my dungeon this weekend after spending the summer topside .
Thanks!! What are you working on in your dungeon space?

This looks amazing! It's funny how some details stand out on different things for me. Like here, I love the space between the tremolo and the bridge, how the bridge looks like it's practically on top of the edge of the pick guard, and how the angled pickguard works with the curves of the body lines and the tremolo plate shape.

I got this Epiphone 2x10 cabinet and loaded it with some Jensen’s
pulled from a Hammond tone cabinet, I really like 2x10.
I’m making a partial plexiglass back panel, I have to experiment
how much to close off.

Wow! Super cool. It almost looks like a Dipinto, but better. I really like the finish too.

Your workshop organization work is always really impressive. I love the assembly table.

At the beginning of the year I had basically no workshop storage, except an old tool box. I had always let that area of the house be my lowest priority. But in early summer I used some of my stimulus check to finally get a decent rolling tool chest set. Now that I'm mostly organized, my workshop is a lot more fun to be in.

Thanks for sharing all of the workshop ideas and inspiration!

It sounds great. I’m not much for superlatives but I think that I prefer the 2x10 cabinet for
sound as much as portability . The red 1/4 “ plexi I had sitting around, I squirrel away bits for
making jigs and things such as a jack plate. I closed the back off and really liked the sound
better with it open.

Very interesting! My experience with different cab sizes and types is very limited. I love the portability of the cab for sure!!!

(Re-posted this one as it was lost in the site going down the other day).

A while back I posted a schematic for a pickup tester box I had designed, and then took it down when I realized that it had some trouble spots. It might take a while, but I'd really like to get back to figuring out the designs, and I think I've got all the major guitar modifications, but I wanted to see if there was anything common that I was missing. Here's what I've got so far:

Inputs/pickup selecting: I'm planning to have 4 inputs (3 is common, but in case I ever decide to make a double Jag or something like a DiPinto Galaxie 4) with both 1/4" input jacks and wires with soldered alligator clips (so I can test pickups in a guitar that aren't wired in at all). I haven't decided for sure, but I'm thinking about making 2 sets of 2 inputs separate, with a phase switch, series-parallel switch, and a 3-way selector (1/1+2/2, 3/3+4/4).

-Volume pots on a rotary switch for multiple values (250K, 500K, 1M, and maybe 330K) to quickly compare the different values.
-Tone pots on a rotary switch for multiple values (250K, 500K, 1M, and maybe 330K).
-Capacitor values for tone pots on rotary switch to compare different values. I also plan to have a place to add external capacitors to this switch.
-Bass cut pot (maybe a switch for different values?)

-Strangle switch (yes I know it's almost the same as having a bass cut pot)
-Phase switching (don't know if I'd need any more, but maybe)
-Series-parallel switch
-Kill switch (2 different types I've found)
-Cocked wah capacitor switch
-Gibson-style Varitone

Image
Here's an example of a simple box I made a few years back that includes a rotary switch for 3 different pot values for both volume and tone, a rotary switch for different capacitor values, and a switch that adds the tone capacitor between the volume and tone pot like some old guitars do, or between the tone pot and ground like other guitars I've found are wired. Don't know if that last switch makes a huge difference, but I thought it was cool to add...

Anything else I should include? I think I've got all the common mods, but I can add anything I want really. I am making this for myself, but I'll draw up the schematics when I make it so any of you guys who build things all the time or any pro builders can use this. With some switches, pots, and wires, I can't imagine it would be expensive to make.
I finally started working on this a bit, and I thought of a few things.

1) I need to include a JM/Jag rhythm circuit.

2) I want to do something for treble bleed circuits (possibly the different types as well), to compare with and without treble bleed.

3) I forgot about standard/modern vs 50s wiring for volume and tone pots. I'm not sure if I'm gonna make a whole section for that, or just a separate box to compare, but I am tempted to include it within the main circuit.

4) With my little schematic above, I have a 4PDT switch which changes the tone capacitor from being between volume pot and the tone pot to being between the tone pot and ground. Has anyone ever tried one or the other and noticed a difference? I'd love to keep this as simple as possible, and if it makes no discernable difference, I might leave it out.

I have been working on my Fender 1000 lately. The plan is to rewire it and rework one of the knee levers. I made a new control plate out of aluminum today and will be wiring up a three-way pickup switch and a series/parallel switch for each neck. Plus I am going to add a stutter switch! Just waiting for parts now.

I like how the bridge pickup is an 8-string pickup, but with a claw like a Jaguar pickup. Pretty sweet pedal steel Andy!!

Thanks!

Those pickups are neat. If you were making an eight string djent jag they would be perfect! Fender also made a ten string version in 800/2000 model steel.
