i wish... they aren't exactly rare, but it's more likely to find what you're looking for in the US, since 90% of the guitars were exported, and the US was the biggest export market.

Niiice.  Other than the headstock, it looks a lot like the one Pat Smear played with the Germs.

ah man.. I love the Fender-styled headstock Hags. So frickin' awesome. I always wanted one of the Viking hollowbodies with one like that...

jealous :)

Hell Yeah Jonas....You'll love it....The thinnest neck and body combo. Also love the SG-Strat thing, but with it's own mind.
These things are nice and the necks are....delicious...To bad I don't have a neck or pu's or anything else then the body ;D

So how much was it? Last one I saw with the Fender alike Headstock was a III and asking price was a steep 250 Euro (and it the finish was gone)

Anyway the re-issues are horrible. Although the Swede and Vikings looked o.k. (only Played the RI III and it felt cheap)

actually, the HIINs have both thicker necks and thicker bodies than the IIs and IIIs, although since this is a II/III type neck it might be of the thin kind... i'll find out tomorrow when pick it up at the post office :)

250 euros for a III is a pretty good deal if it's all original and intact apart from the finish. the one i bought for my friend is the one in the auction i linked to in the first post, winning bid was $711.99 (roughly 480 euros). but as i mentioned earlier, most HIINs had the 3+3 headstocks, so this one is relatively rare.

so... jerry was right, the neck is the thin kind as found on IIs and IIIs, but i can't really say if the body is the thicker version as on later HIINs or the thinner version, i'll have to compare it to my other bandmate's '76 tonight. in any case, the guitar is in good condition as the auction pics suggested, just one noticable ding on the lower horn, and the missing mirror tops on two knobs. the neck is of course dead straight, allowing for super low action without fret buzz (fastest playing neck in the world!). and it sounds fantastic! i had almost forgotten how great the hagström humbuckers sound. very bright and chimey, almost single coil territory. the trem was not set very well set up, but michael never uses the trem anyway so that won't be a problem. i think he will be very happy with it :)
