i modified an old MIJ squier tele of mine for a gibson 57 classic in the neck and a duncan hot stack inthe bridge; the full size neck HB was still very noticeably louder than the bridge, so after about a year or so, i took it all apart.

for a squier mod like you're doing, i'd prolly go:

P'ups: duncan jazz HB neck, duncan broadcaster (or fender nocaster) bridge
gotoh tuners, graphtech nut
graphtech saddles
fender/cts pots, switch, jack, and cap (or maybe an orange drop cap or whatever they're called)
some sort of non-standard tele jack plate (electrosocket, gibson style, etc)
strap locks
strings, lol
hard shell case, ROFL
flight case, ROFLMA
(those last few are a little extreme, but it's his only guitar right?  :D)

if you get new pots, make sure what you buy fits the control plate. if it's an import plate, the pot holes could be smaller than the standard CTS/fender pots. ;)

and careful with the tuning peg shaft measurements.

have fun!  :)
