My next guitar....

Post by DWBH » Tue Mar 04, 2008 12:43 pm

.... will probably be a Telecaster. I lack those raunchy, country, crunchy sounds from a Tele.
I don't have the money yet, but I've been lurking some models, such as the Classic Player's Teles, Baja Tele and that's about it.
My budget is about 600 euros, about 900 dollars.
Oh, I almost forgot, what about the Highway Series. These are American models, aren't they? How do they compare to the MIM ones?

PS: What I really wanted was a Floral Telecaster :? :?

I had one of those before. I think I bought it from Musicians Friend for $300 as a close out. It played real nice, but I sold it pretty quickly. It certainly looked cool, but the feel and sound wasn't something that I made much use of at the time.

I started a thread a few days ago due to some VOS '57 Les Paul goldtop GAS pains...

Since then, I actually had the opportunity to get my hands on a used '54 Les Paul Custom Black Beauty that was for sale locally.
I had brought my JM along for an A/B and conversation with the seller.

My JM had it all over that LP in spades.  Walked away from it with no regret.

Granted the LP I tested wasn't a humbucker model, but I figured my jones for a humbucker equipped guitar could be satisfied without dropping $3k+ on a Gibson.

Therefore, my new jones is for a black AVRI '62 custom tele with the white binding.  I can get my "black with binding" fix as well as all of the bad-assedness that comes with a tele, and then I'm thinking either a Reverend or the '72 Tele Deluxe for the humbucker itch.

All for less than the price of an LP.

Sorry I took the long way around Joe's barn to get to my point.  My next guitar will be a tele too.  Cool, huh?

Thanks for the replies, guys.
I'm really leaning towards the Baja. For 500 euros, I think there ain't better than it.

I played the baja tele in the store and if I would ever buy a tele that would be the one. It sounds great and the chunky v neck plays nice too.
