Yes. Currently Ira Kaplan's Strat & I really don't like Strats.
Well... I'd take a red Coronado too... ;)

I'm glad I'm not the only one... misery loves company.

More obsessions:

Rowland S. Howard's white Jag:

Tim Rogers' Crockenbacker Rick copy:

Billy Zoom's Silver Jet:

And, the big Kahuna... William Reid's Kawai Magnus (EP-150/Speed Demon):

I actually bought a natural Kawai Magnus which I'm slooooooowly modding to match William's (already installed the Kent tailpiece). I just need to paint it and find the knobs and pickguard, which are rare as hen's teeth since most people are parting them out for $$$$$$.

Back in February, it was definitely a rickenbacker 360/12v64.
Image
Now, for some reason, it seems to have shifted to a Gibson Firebird V (in Cardinal Red, no less).
Image
I guess I can *kind of* convince myself that a 12-string would add to what I have, but the Firebird had more to do with me being obsessed with the looks. I do like the sound , too, but I guess I’m just a sucker for cutting edge designs from that era. Wish me (and my wallet) luck. I’ve got a 2022 vacation to save for! :D

Definitely feel the Coronado thing. I wanted one for a while and watched several on Reverb over the last year but then finally went down a rabbit hole of watching videos and the sound of it was really high and tinny in all of them and it put me off wanting one. I kept thinking I would use it to multitrack clean guitars with that would make them sound full and lush (did this before with an old Harmony Rocket), but it appears that the sound is vastly different to what I expected so unless someone chimes in to let me know that Coronados don't sound like all treble all the time then I guess despite how much I think they look amazing I will never again desire to have one for myself.......

Also I looked at a bunch of Kauer Starlighters yesterday online and had a strong desire to have one. Then I saw how much they cost...

Stumbled on Yanuziello guitars last night and went down a bit of a rabbit hole. Looks like it will be a non-starter for me for this reason. Also, so many great players using/demoing them reminding me that what I really need to do is practice.

I went years thinking Mustangs were just uglier, worse-sounding Jags, for reasons that seemed real to me at the time but I now have trouble recalling. I think part of it was about rejecting the cliché Kurt-related obsession that gripped people my age and older.

Then, about 4-5 years ago, I suddenly realized how awesome they were, and just absolutely had to have one. I got a red '65, which was my first vintage Fender and kicked off my vintage obsession, too.

I can't describe it, but prior to that point, vintage Fenders just kind of seemed like old, dirty guitars that were needlessly worshipped, and Mustangs seemed lame to me. Then some sort of switch flipped.

When I was growing up my step dad had an olympic white 1965 Mustang that played and looked incredible. I was allowed to play it sometimes when I was in high school esp because of my Nirvana/Kurt obsession. A few years ago my parents house was broken into and that guitar and a piece of jewelry belonging to my mom were the only things taken. Damn thing would have been mine at some point according to my step dad and now nothing. We filed reports and looked in the local/regional pawn shops and vintage guitar places but it never turned up. My nightmare is thinking that it's sitting in some piece of shit basement because whoever stole it wasn't able to fence it and now it's just molding. I have thought about buying a Mustang myself (more of a Jags and Jazzys person as an adult) but the thing that has kept me from it is this memory of how good that 65 sounded and I'm afraid any other one would never live up to the standard I've set in my mind for what it was like back then.

Truthfully told, this is how I got into Jazzmasters and offsets. Before that Teles ruled my heart and I had a big yen for Gretschs also. My musical taste shifted, I got into harder music and more post-rock sounding stuff (I was a blues and jazz head before that) and lo and behold, there were Jazzmasters everywhere. It probably sounds like a put-on to say I just happened to start listening to Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth, and the Nels Cline Singers around the same time, but that's how it happened, and all of a sudden I had to have a JM. The odd thing is that I had always messed around with third bridges, strings behind the bridge, and extended playing on the guitars I had that allowed such techniques, but I'd never thought of getting an offset before that.

Totally understand the obsession with LPB Coronados. Susie Higgins from Falling Joys has played one for years.

Matching one's outfit to one's guitar has never looked so seamless. This is a fantastic look.

2 K for a custom colour Fender is a steal nowadays ... and Coronados are not a student or cheap guitar ,but a really serious one ... you wont possibly
regret getting an aged LPB one ,just to stare it every day ...

I like where your head is with this! Perhaps this will keep me from cruising Reverb so much!

That is gorgeous! Did it come with the gold guards and truss rod cover or did you customize?

Those are both magical to look at! I remember seeing Ride in the early '90s and lusting after their guitars, but never got around to affording one. (I got distracted by these:)
