If I was a byrd, I'd be mighty sore every time they shut the door and I don't think I'd sing...

I've been looking at rick 330s a lot over the last few days for a maybe upcoming project, and something is really hard to wrap my head around :
How come they'res very few fakes that don't look completely wonky, too square or too lumpy ? Even when I see threads of people building their own, with nicely drawn plans that look like the real deal, the shape almost always seems off at then end compared to the pictures of real ricks.
What is the problem with this shape exactly ?

actually the real thing, this came in for a finish repair, but I plan on making a tracing and building my own with a few revisions in the coming year.

My bassist's ex-Rickenbacker* next to my Fakenbacker.
(*he sold it as it had some issue with presence in the mix both when recording and in the band context... also because the Tokai Hard Puncher is just perfect for our sound)
Sadly I can't tell by whom or where mine was made as the previous owner exchanged the truss-rod cover.
The only thing I can tell is that it has a set neck and a SD replacement pickup in the bridge position. Not perfect but good enough for my needs as a guitarist who grabs a bass maybe ten times a year or so...

Does anyone own a Harry White faker?

I see his work on FB and it looks incredible and authentic. It's pricey for a faker (compared to the Chinese junk)...but not nearly what Rics cost. I would love to hear some reviews.

Here are a couple of photos of his work.

I bought the "brother" of that guitar from fullerplast. He sold them both, at around the same time. They were/are nice, but in all honesty they dont compare to a Greco or an Aria.

Still, not bad for a cheaper guitar.

Mine was black and on the lighter side. I no longer have it though.

Last time I checked, Harry White charged over €1000 for one of his guitars (I recall these were Chinese bodies that he finishes off, correct me if I am wrong) I recall thinking at the time “I could get a real used Rickenbacker 330 for €1000” so I passed on contacting him.

If you are looking for a specific “look” and you’re on a budget Harry White would be the one to go to… he’s in the U.K. though, right?

That’s rad. I would have bought it off you. I have a Rickenbacker 330 ish guitar on my list. I have seen 330s sell for €1000 used and that’s also the price for a Greco sans shipping and import duties from Japan.

Interesting, ended up paying for mine about 900€ (Greco copy via zenmarket from Japan) including everything (postage costs within Japan to warehouse, international postage, zenmarket fees and EU toll fees). Used market prices for a Ric 360 here in Germany were around 2000 during the time I researched. It's funny how different experiences can be depending on country and the fluctuation of prices.
Edit: mine came without any case or bag though.
