Strat Tremolo Questions? Edited

Post by Larsongs » Fri Jan 27, 2023 6:29 am

(I posted this in the New & Reissue Section & it was suggested if I post here I’ll get more info… Apologies for double Post.. )

My apologies.. I should have phrased my Question;

Re; New 2023 Fender Strat Guitars how many different kinds of Tremolos does Fender use for their different New 2023 models of American Fender Strats?

Does Fender use the same Tremolo’s on New 2023 MIM Fender Strats’s?

Do New 2023 MIM Fender Strats have the same Pickups, Tuners, Pots etc. as USA Strats… The only difference being they’re Assembled in Mexico?

What about MIJ Strat’s? Same question?

Thanks,

Larsongs

With respect that’s a difficult question for anyone to answer, it’s fairly open ended and without context. If no one knows the answer then it’s going to take quite a bit of research find out.

Riley has a good listing of all the strat trems that Fender sells, including their part numbers:
https://darrenriley.com/product-categor ... -tremolos/

You could look up the PDF parts manuals for current Fender strats on the Fender website (under Support, if Fender has made the specific manual for that strat model available) and cross-reference their trems' listed part numbers with the above.

Not sure how to answer that, are we counting third party made units? If so, there's no end of Strat trem makers.

In fact, there's so many that I wouldn't really bother caring all that much what comes on any Fender. There's the two kinds, of course, the six screw vintage kind and the two pivot modern kind.

Both of those have dozens of makers who have replacement offerings at all qualities and price points.

Not sure if this is helpful or not. But if you got a Fender Strat, you could replace the whole unit, the saddles, the block, or any other component as you saw fit until you were happier.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

The Floyd Mayweather Jnr is popular with the beatdown crew I’ve heard.

Failing that, I’d rout it for a JM vibrato.
I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

I didn't think Fender built FX into Stratocasters as a rule.

Lol. Blame Leo himself for that lexical error.
Vibratos, people!! They’re vibratos! Leo didn’t get everything right, lol.

But is usage not the arbiter of a word's meaning? If enough people agree that the word 'tremolo' (or tremelo, as the op insists on spelling it) refers to a vibrato unit, then that's what it means.

I don't entirely agree with the above, btw, just playing devil's advocate. :D

Not really. Just because a lot of people use the wrong term for something doesn't automatically make it correct. Vibrato and Tremolo have etymology dating back hundreds of years as musical terms.

If 40% of people started calling Stratocasters motorcycles instead of guitars it doesn't mean that motorcycle is now the correct word for it, it just means that 40% of people are wrong.

Usage is only part of a words meaning. That's why we have dictionary's and formal bureaus of definitions to keep order to the chaos. Otherwise we could just use any word for any thing we wanted and spell them any way we want.

Aniways, I'm just orf to waglle teh tremelo stick on my neu Fedner SquiRE Stratocaster jetski.

I'm an editor for a living, so you're preaching to the choir. It's sorta my job to understand the rules and apply them. But I find the way people actually use language equally fascinating. I have less problem with people using 'literally' when they mean 'figuratively', for example, than you might think. :D

BTW, you mean dictionaries, not dictionary's. ;)

I definitely do :D :D good catch *hangz hed in sham*

It could be worse, I could be replacing the 's' with a 'z' in words, or dropping 'u's and flipping 're' around, like our American friends seem to like to do.

Five. There's some overlap between lines, but also some exclusives.
