I'll post tomorow new pictures of her.
Was in a guitar store the other day and tried this model. The neck felt absolutely fantastic to my hand, loved the width of the neck and now I am seriously considering getting one with the plan to change the pickups to p90s.

First will have to get rid a couple of guitars though.
How do you like yours after some months of playing?
Any updates on the modifications?
100% agree. I can't. They feel so wrong.s_mcsleazy wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2023 5:58 amgod. this thread makes me wish i could bond with gibson style guitars but i just cant.
That's what I used to think. But if you're an Offset person, there's probably a Gibson style guitar out there that won't feel so wrong.ThePearDream wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2023 8:58 am100% agree. I've had an Epiphone LP Special type guitar before and tried normal LPs in stores. The ergonomics are just such a terrible fit for me. They seem to be made for somebody half my size. I don't mind small guitars. I love Mustangs, and my Performer based builds are tiny compared to a Strat. The small, tight, waist on LPs feels uncomfortable to the point of being distracting.Embenny wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2023 9:10 amThat's what I used to think. Firebirds have giant bodies, necks moved over to the left, and neck angles similar to an Offset with a shim. Those are a good gateway Gibson (a FB was mine). It's not miles away from a Jazzmaster in a number of ways (including tone, once you put proper vintage style FB pickups in it).
A flat-top LP Junior/DC/Special doesn't feel totally unlike a Mustang. Similar size, similar neck angle.
My Flying Vs feel a lot like Offsets in terms of the neck angle/bridge height and how they hang on a strap.
To me, Strats and Teles feel more unlike my Offsets than Gibsons do, which is why I never bond with them and yet keep bonding with Gibsons.
For reference, a Jaguar was my main electric guitar starting from about 3 years in to playing electric, and it took me nearly 20 years for me to start liking Gibsons. In all that time, I still haven't managed to truly like a Strat or Telecaster, and it's 100% down to feel (I adore Strat neck pickups and Tele bridge pickups).
Plus, all you need to do is find the one gateway Gibson. Once you play that long enough, it's easy to transition to other models. I went Firebird->Flying V->SG->335->LP.
Only the Flying Vs have stuck around, +/- my Epi LP Muse (I'm 50/50 on keeping it), but I wouldn't have gotten there if I hadn't started with a Firebird and worked my way through different models.
Sounds like you still have a good few candidates left that might act as your gateway Gibson!ThePearDream wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2023 9:55 amI've had an Epiphone LP Special type guitar before and tried normal LPs in stores. I hate the clunky neck joints and small roundovers too. Not having a vibrato doesn't help either. I love a chunky LP neck carve though. My favorite frets are really close to vintage Gibson size too.
I would love to try a Firebird (original shape only), and would love to get an Explorer, but I haven't spotted any I'd want around here. Same with 335 or Casino style guitars (though I'd prefer a Yamaha more).
If they’re good enough for our 6’4” drummer…ThePearDream wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2023 9:55 amI've had an Epiphone LP Special type guitar before and tried normal LPs in stores. Fair enough, we likely have distinctly different ergonomic needs. I'm a full foot shorter and probably about 100 lbs lighter than you.ThePearDream wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2023 11:00 amI'm 6'7" though![]()
I'm a little more thick/muscley too, think of Taylor Swift's current boyfriend, Travis Kelce. I'm basically looking like an NFL Tight End, a few years after retiring.
