Very, very cool and definitely Bad Religion approved!
I've been eyeing single cut Jr for years...if they do a TV Yellow one in that price range I am cracking!

Nice score! I always wanted to try one of those, but have only ever played the SG bodied versions.

I fully approve of this.
I’d still like to own a singlecut Junior that says Gibson on the headstock at some point.
They’ve made some pretty uninspiring versions in recent years, but this sounds like a great one.

Nice score, indeed !
I recently played a new Les Paul Special and was pretty in love with the neck carve, resonance, and tv white/yellow finish. If your Jr is as nice as that, I’d say you have a winner! Enjoy it in good health.

I'm a massive fan of the Mountain set from WoodstockGreenKnee wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2024 1:51 pmLP Junior and a wall of Sunn amps, what's not to love?

Dude had such a great voice too. And had almost as big hands as GaryPtaszek.
Brian Baker is probably 80% of the reason I wanted one (and have for a while). Definitely putting a white guard on.
I'd have an SG one if it wasn't for my issues with SG'sBoringPostcards wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2024 2:47 pmNice score! I always wanted to try one of those, but have only ever played the SG bodied versions.
They're not offering much in the way of fun colours for sure, but I kinda like the classic look on these. Suits the basic vibe.marqueemoon wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2024 4:46 pmI fully approve of this.

Yeah, this one is LOUD unplugged and the neck carve is great - a real handful.

I have a MojoAxe and Tone Pros locking studs on my Jr, and TonePros VTNA-N and locking studs on my Special. Both bridges are good, but the locking studs are really, really nice to have.i love sharin foo wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2024 8:38 amI love Juniors! Mine is about 4 or 5 years old now. It has a MojoAxe bridge which looks right and intonates better than the original. I put some Faber locking studs on it too. I swapped all the wiring out and added a Wolfetone Meaner 90 pickup. I liked it stock but I love it now. And yeah, the necks are big.. real big. It feels perfect to me. It’s pretty much the same as my LP Traditional and SG Classic. I used an Emerson 0.022uF cap and 500k tone pot. With the new pickup, I get usable tones from wide open to full off. I’m really pleased. I play it a bunch. I have light strings on mine. Either 9s or 9.5s. I bend a lot though and hitting pretty much every fret everyday. I’ve been learning some faux pedal steel bending too and the Jr is every bit as good as the trusty Telecaster for that.

My '21 Special is a great guitar. The bridge pickup routing is a little deep and I had to add foam because it's resonant enough that playing it unplugged vibrated the shit out of the pickup. I'll glue in some wood and mount it properly eventually, but it's good for now.
It seems they've really done a good job on this line of Jrs and Specials. Congrats on yours.

Plus they get rid of bridge tilt! With the bridge tilted the slight angles built into the MojoAxe bridge for intonation weren’t quite enough. I was getting some buzz. Those studs cured it.
This isn’t some kind of metaphor

Yep, and they make restringing a bit more convenient. I guess they'd be a pain if action needed adjusted frequently but I like not having to worry about inadvertently changing it.i love sharin foo wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2024 6:53 amPlus they get rid of bridge tilt! My homage to Brian Baker. I didn't want to go full copycat with it so used cupcake knobs and aged parchment. I like the look. Might try 3ply wbw or bwb too at some point as guards for these are cheap as chips and a 1 min job to swap...
Still needs a little more nut fettling to help the stability but it's close to there so I'll dial that in soon.

Finally got around to having an hour spare, combined with the correct amount of motivation, and gave this a bit of attention at the nut area. The classic Gibson issue of tuning stability is real and quite annoying when you've spent most of your playing life with the Fender system (and its inherent string angle qualities).
I unfortunately went a couple of strokes too far on the G and ended up having to do a tiny CV glue and nut dust repair and redo but it's now playing with a nice low action (1.8-2mm at the 12th) and I tried tuning up and going to town doing boomer bends for 10 minutes. Lost maybe a couple of cents across the D, G & B strings so I'd call that a win. I even pulled a fair few full-step country B-bends lower on the board for the ultimate in tests.
The weight is a delight. Between this and the Guild at 7lbs 4oz, light guitars are definitely a nice thing when my bad back is playing up (often).
