I like the d-tuna, and I made all my Floyds dive only. I’m a big fan of that setup. I’m also an EVH guy so that might be why…
Recommended! Floyds require some patience but if you block it to dive only, 85% of the issues most people have go away.
yeah, I've been listening to a lot of Van Halen lately, which is probably why I wanted a Floyd equipped guitar in the first place. I was looking at one of the USA Peavey Wolfgang Specials but I didn't want to take a punt on a tree system I've never owned. Also the bodies are kinda small.
This kinda has similar design elements to his Musician, the figured top, non-recessed Floyd Rose, even the cigarette burn. From what I can see the Floyd looks like it's legit too, hopefully it has the 'Made in Germany' stamp.
I too wanna set this up for down only for that tuning stability, and I'll definitely get the D-Tuna.

Please guys, post pics of your Floyd equipped guitars cos I didn't realise there were some of you out there on this forum :w00t:

I have a modded Ibanez RG that I bought to scratch the Floyd itch. Like others, my biggest complaint is that the neck is way too slim and flat, and the frets too big. I tried to play it the other day, and it was out of tune. It's still out of tune today, since the idea of tuning it seemed like too much effort. The vibrato itself is fine, it works like it's supposed to - though I think I'd prefer something closer to the EVH setup. It's really the locking nut that I can't stand though. That's really what makes the system such a pain. I'm tempted to swap in a used RG neck with a normal nut, and just use locking tuners instead.

This one you've got coming in looks great though. That top looks like Lacewood to me, very tasteful.

It was definitely the reason I got a Floyd Charvel when I did.
Then over time my first Stratocaster that I’ve had for almost 30 years ended up with a humbucker, then a Floyd rose, then an EVH paint job 😂

have you considered a 'tree-setter'? and perhaps one of these graph tech nuts?

Looking forward to it arriving, but I'm trying not to get too excited, god knows what state it's going to be in when it does arrive.

That’s the stuff!

I did some digging online and this is the only other information I can find on this model Tokai. Confirms my suspicions that the Floyd was a later addition, replacing the Tokai trem.

Was going to suggest you check the superstrat thread, but it seems its been inactive so long there's not many images loading any more.

My first Fender Tele was a real impulse-buy beater. It was a mid-70s regular Tele but the previous owner had stripped the finish off it, and routed it for a Floyd Rose, he added the locking tuners and locking nut and everything. To the right person it would have been perfect, but I never could get on with it. I'd got it for £100 in 1987 and still remember feeling absolutely baffled by the trem system. Trying to block it off never worked too well, so once I finally managed to get it in tune I eventually swapped it for a late 60s Vox Tele-shaped guitar with the teardrop headstock (can't remember the model name).

I still look at Showmasters and Ibanez and similar guitars online though and wonder if I could ever get on with a Floyd-equipped guitar. The idea of them is great but I'm probably too low tech for them. Love the look of them though.

I had considered getting a tremsetter. I hadn't seen those Graphtech conversion nuts before though, that's a great solution. I'm torn on putting any money into the guitar though - I only paid $275 for the thing, and the neck will always be too skinny.

I’m the worst, I end up spending more on hardware than the actual guitar. But you could always get a new neck? I was already looking at Warmoth necks for this guitar incase I didn’t jell with it, a nice boat neck with no finish on it.

Alas, the seller decided to use the worst possible courier to deliver the guitar (EVRI) it’s yet to arrive, the tracking has ceased to update, and apparently I have no way of talking to anyone actual human being to find out where it is.
I truly hope this isn’t the end for my Floyd Rose dreams. Fingers crossed it comes today, otherwise I’ll have to attempt a refund.
