Here's my Lester, a 1984 Studio Custom. I like some of the Custom cosmetics but I like the dots, and this is one of lightest and liveliest sounding LPs I've played.
^Looks pretty bad ass.

Nice! I love the look of old LP Customs where the binding is all yellowed. How many dipshits have tried to tell you it's a Chinese fake because of the dots so far? I had a 1984 cherry red one for a while, excellent guitar but oh boy was selling it a pain in the ass.

I haven’t encountered said dipshits yet, but I don’t doubt it for a minute. I bought this back before the internet was much of a thing. Now at least it’s possible to pull up other examples.

I realized that I used to have a perfect Les Paul-ytype guitar. but I never played it.
It was this 92 Hamer Sunburst, that sustained for days and never, ever went out of tune:

Still got the amp and the Jazz Bass.
I guess I'm just not Lester material.

Ooooh, that Hamer! And the one in the first post ...
I would love to have any of those! Much more than a Gibson LP.

I traded away that Hamer for a Waterloo acoustic.

You could always go for the ES option if the LP isn't what you want. Or a Gretsch, maybe even a Stratocaster....

So, you want a Les Paul.
Are you
sure you like the clean tones?

Actually, they aren't as bad as I used to think. Even on my Studio with the 498t and 490r pickups I can get a pretty good clean sound out of it. I used to just write those pickups off but they are much more versatile than I formerly gave them credit for.

I want to fix my Secret Agent amp, actually. I've yet to find why it's not making sound anymore.
Also, I'd take a LPB Johnny Marr Jag, too.

I've had this same urge (the only LP I've owned was a basket case Greco that Mike and Mike's Guitar Bar oversold badly) so I went for a nice MIJ Tokai (still cheaper than the budget Gibson models) that arrived today. Sounds incredible, I'm a sucker for PAF cleans with my Princeton Reverb, but I'm going to have to get used to playing it classical style when sitting - on my right leg, it feels like it wants to slide off. Not even that heavy (9.2#), can't imagine how one of the 11 pounders would feel like that.
