One of these might be a possible alternative to a reissue '54 or '57 custom .. as I think P90s fit into those minibucker routs .. ?

At one point I was an email away from trading a refinished '62 Jazzmaster for a '74 Deluxe gold top. I ended up trading for my black '66 Jazzmaster though. I have still always wanted a Deluxe though. I have a '65 Harmony 1446L that has two Gibson designed mini humbuckers (they are stock in that guitar) and they sound AMAZING. So fat, eyt so clear. For me, there's a perfect balance... I still want a Deluxe someday.

They're also unplayable I think .. aren't those the ones with the hanging bridge that goes out of tune if you look at it?

they had a really shallow angle and the bridge was a mess...they are playable if you're careful with the tailpiece, but people tend to convert them to stop-tail

And hack them up by resetting the neck to the later angle, routing for humbuckers, and converting to full '58-60 specs

There were places even advertising that they were doing those conversions for a while. I think that's a shame. After that kind of modification I think it'd be a lot smarter to just buy a reissue or custom shop model or something similar. But that's just me..

the worst thing is that they could take the tailpiece off and install a badass bridge, the gutar will playable...but they just won't do that - they'd do a full conversion to '59 specs
you can also install an ES330 style tailpiece and then drop a tunomatic bridge in the posts and it would work (only thing would be that you'd have to shave the bottom of the tunomatic quite a bit for it to have good action)
I seriously considered getting one of these a while back...and might just do if I find an issues one (broken headstock, refin etc)
they look real cool IMO
