maaaaan! I really really want one of those hagstroms now - it's like a cross between my two loves, the SG and the JM!

I had a Hag II that was just like that except it had single coils and the Fender headstock.

A bit of useless trivia:
Guild used Hagstrom bridges and vibratos on some of their electrics in the '60s & '70s.

That tail has shown up on Harmonys too, and some of the Teisco-derivative oddball guitars. It's an attractive and functional design.flatfiver wrote: A bit of useless trivia:

When I saw Nine Inch Nails he used a black jazzmaster with tortoise pickguard on "wish" for sure, and maybe some others. He switched to a (presumably) mexican-or-cheaper strat for the last song though...flatfiver wrote: Wait a minute... you don't think that this:

*EDIT*
GAH! I went to that custom guitar thing....

ah yes, the "tremar" system. works pretty well (and looks really cool), but it behaves more like a strat trem IIRC, not as smooth as a JM/jag trem.fullerplast wrote:That tail has shown up on Harmonys too, and some of the Teisco-derivative oddball guitars. Re: Cool custom Hagstromaster built by First Act
speaking of hagström-esque guitars, one of my friends recently bought one of these:

it´s actually quite nice. it has a set neck and thicker body (the old ones were thin like SGs, maybe even thinner), which makes it feel a hell of lot more solid than the originals. it´s a shame they didn´t make them more true to the originals shape wise though.

ok, now i´ve come up with another project idea:
i´d like to turn this:

into this (but with the pickguard under the strings, and a vol knob and a jack

I'm 100% with you on that one, Jonas. I might actually do it. How much can you pick one of those hagstroms up for?
Is it just me, or have they kinda changed the name from "Hagström" to "Hagstrom" somewhere along the way?

i think they generally go for around $400 new.chrisjedijane wrote: I'm 100% with you on that one, Jonas. I might actually do it. How much can you pick one of those hagstroms up for?

they changed the Ö in the logo to an O back in the 60s, but the name was always hagström. from the beginning the logo had two dots over the O, but to make the brand a bit more international they just extended the line from the T so that swedish people still would read it as hagström, and other people would read it as hagstrom. now, when the original hagström company no longer exists, the people making these guitars do so by the name hagstrom, but under license from the people who still own the hagström brand.
do i make any sense? :-\

That is a Hagstrom, the company is trying to revive itself into its former glory, but it is now based in states, you can see their entire range here http://www.hagstromguitars.com/mynameisjonas wrote: speaking of hagström-esque guitars, one of my friends recently bought one of these:

yep, makes sense to me. I had originally replied to this with my limited swedish skills but I got The Fear and had to edit...mynameisjonas wrote: i think they generally go for around $400 new.
