If you ever ever ever sort of maybe feel like selling it, I'll give you $300 for it.northern_dirt wrote:
Well, it currently needs the intonation corrected..
but it seems to lose tune pretty fast.. Might need to
just play it more, I got it about 2 months ago and the guy
put new strings on it..
I paid $350 for it, and there really isnt any other electric
12's in that range, at least not up here.. it does seem to
be pretty cheaply made, but it gets the job done.. playing the
5th strings open and letting it resonate while playing notes up
the neck on the 4th set of strings sounds pretty cool and trippy
you get a sorta sitaresque buzzing out of it..

Re: recommend me an electric 12-string..
I have a six string version of that baldwin, with a bogus bigsbyish trem. Hard to recommend as zero sustain, little accoustic response, weak pickups, really thick crack prone paint that's similar to the accoridan plastic that covers Ekos and the like and plinky tone. The necks a bolt on too. Looks quite sharp, but not much of a tool. Mine was very (junk stall) cheap and has been on holiday at a mates for a while.
Charvel Surfcaster 12's are pretty good, the only real down side is they are touch neck heavy and they have quite a shallow pointy headstock type neck profile. They are quite hefty too. Plus points are; looks, phase switching, neat Ric style tuning set up, good intonation and a very separated chorused sound. Oh and quite cheap.

LEET!! That's the second time I've ever seen that, and within a couple days of Aen's!idiotbear wrote: You can get old Vox Phantom XIIs for reasonable money (by vintage standards). I played one from about 1979 the same day I played a 100% original '65 Fender Electric XII, and the Vox was better. The Electric XII looks nicer, IMHO, but I loved the sound of the Vox.
I love Ricks, but as has been observed before, the necks can be a little bit of an acquired taste.

Why the hell do you hate yourself? The Byrds are one of my favorite bands of all time! That guy in the vid is umm, different though...

I tried to like a Coro XII but it was rather weak sounding plugged. Could have been just that particular one of course.

Anyone ever played one? I'd love to know if it's good, 1200 dollars isn't much now the dollar's worth near to nothing.RumorsOFsurF wrote: Nobody's going to mention a Coro XII?Come on, guys!

There is a Venus XII on sale there:
http://cgi.ebay.com/The-Fender-Squier-V ... dZViewItem
OK, the seller's ad is crap!
Apart from that, I have one of these guitars (mine's black). I find it pretty good but I have very little experience in the way of 12-stringers. Pick-ups are Seymour Duncans.

Re: recommend me an electric 12-string..
Burns makes a nice 12.
http://www.burnsguitars.com/product.php?product_id=6
But Ricky's really are the best for their sound. If you find them difficult to play, get one with humbuckers that's more comfortable and mod the pickup phasing to get the Rickenbacker sound. And if you find that you don't like the pickups in whatever 12 you get, try swapping them out for GFS Memphis Retrotrons. They have a very Rickenbacker-like sound right out of the box. But again, phasing is half the recipe for that sound.
