That’s right. The pickups look to be a full inch further apart than on the ones with the 24 feet necks.

In other news, I bought a Mastery bridge for my Ric yesterday. I'll give my report on it once it delivers. I just got sick of the height adjustment screws falling and then making the whole thing buzz. Hopefully $200 well spent.

I very much rate my one. It's really solid.

Username badform has two rickenfakers, i wonder if he will post them. I've played one of them a ton and it's killer!
I used to be cool, now I just complain about prices.

I can corroborate this claim. I put it on but didn't change out my strings, this definitely has a bit more "zing" for lack of a better term. Feels REALLY solid, as you said. The whole body resonates now. Well worth it.

Damn I want this guitar but I can't afford it right now. So I'm passing on the info JIC someone here is interested... it's in Virginia Beach.
1973 Rick 360
They dropped the price to $2159 and you get 10% off if you buy it today. That brings it down to $1944. The guy also offered me free expedited shipping. I love the color, it's much more unique and rare compared to the standard colors.

R-tailpiece is ugly and prone to failure anyway. Always reminded me of this:

I'll convert any R-tailpiece Ric to trapeze. Here's my 330

I've read they have a propensity for failure almost exclusively on the 12 strings thanks to the massive increase in tension on part that can't handle it. Hook a 100lb fish onto an 80lb line and you're risking things for sure.
I like the look, a lot. Enough for me to deal with the awful restringing drama too.

Re: OSG Rickenbacker (and Rickenfaker) thread?
I hear about the R tailpiece issues but is it real?
Take Peter Buck's main 360 for example. He uses 13-56 strings and has used the guitar for decades. Has he replaced his tailpiece a few times? Were the older ones from the early 80s stronger?
I don't know what gauge he uses on has 12 string Ricks but either he's replaced the tailpiece before or it's never broke on him.
These guitars got played a LOT and toured around the world many times for long periods of time.

Re: OSG Rickenbacker (and Rickenfaker) thread?
Oooh, I’ll play. I have a very big thing for late 80s - early 90s Rics. Pre-96 move to CNC (sorry to be contrary to the previously stated 86 earlier in this thread), fibreboard topped pickups (80s - mid 91, and easily my favourite sounding hi-gains), glorious necks… all the good things.

L-R - ‘86 360/6 in gloriously custardy white, ‘88 330/6 Mapleglo, ‘91 360/6 Jetglo.
Both 330s and 360s from this era have a noticeably different body shape to the modern ones which are really hard to unsee once you have. The horns on the 330s were rounder / less spikes. 360s had the original curves - the post 96 ones are more square and not as pretty to my eye. Im also one of the oddballs who prefer the narrower triangle inlays and the bigger headstocks.

Re: OSG Rickenbacker (and Rickenfaker) thread?
That's definitely a different body shape on the 330. Mine's a 2003 and could put someone's eye out. It's also an oddball because it's one of the baseball bat neck years. It's truly gigantic. Probably my most playable guitar though. I don't understand people saying Rics are hard to play when mine has the lowest action and least relief out of all my guitars. A 10-52 set plays like a set of 8's.Gav Haus wrote: ↑Tue Aug 08, 2023 9:46 pmOooh, I’ll play. I have a very big thing for late 80s - early 90s Rics. oh yeah, they can be set up lower and straighter than just about any other guitar I know; They definitely get all the geometry right on them.
