Thanks. I think I bought it because it's so beautiful and have since been trying to justify the purchase. I have no impulse control when it comes to guitars (and amps).

Re: OSG Rickenbacker (and Rickenfaker) thread?
I have a 360/12v64 that looks almost identical to that c63, but it's currently hanging on the wall of Glasgow's finest guitar shop and will hopefully find a new home soon. It's a magnificent-sounding guitar, but not an easy one to get along with, neck-wise, which painful fact has taken me a long time to come to terms with.
That leaves me with just my humble 1996 330 JG, pictured today on a rare opening of its case.
This is my third 330, and hopefully the end of the Rickenbacker rainbow for me. As mentioned elsewhere, I'd love a 360 in Autumnglo or Montezuma Brown, but for me the plain old jetglo is where it's at, and pretty hard to beat.

I love these. My Guild is a very similar shape now I come to think of it.

This is my favorite RIC model, but I don’t pen one. If I may ask, what’s made it problematic when playing live?

Re: OSG Rickenbacker (and Rickenfaker) thread?
is there a certain era of high gain pickups that are better than others? Are the later/current adjustable pole piece ones different in sound?

Re: OSG Rickenbacker (and Rickenfaker) thread?
Yes - the hi-gains vary over the years. I haven't seen a definitive era-by-era breakdown but from my own experience the late 90's-2007ish higains were higher output, very middy and 'honky' and really quite far away from the traditional Rickenbacker sound. From 2007, when they changed to the adjustable pole pieces they lowered the output and these pickups really do give you the best of both worlds - nice chime and also sound great with more gain.
If anyone has a more granular view it would be interesting to know. Cheers.

My experience aligns with that.Fac 50 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 04, 2023 5:05 amYes - the hi-gains vary over the years. The pickups on my 90s 330/12 measured 14+k each (and sounded like Guy Fieri).
Worth noting, too, that the toasters also changed over the years, and the 90s/00s toasters are basically hi-gains, until they introduced the "scatterwound" ones.

Used to own this one, sold it because of the thin neck.
