Re: Rare Gibsons and Vintage Epiphones
Does a 70ties Epi Genesis count??I've got one lying arround. Belonged to a homeless person before one of my friends bought it from him. He's had that guitar for several years and did horrible things to it ( painted it army green and the like). He gave me the remnants of this gutiar for my brithday a couple of years ago. I've got it working again and I no use it at home when I need a les paul sound.
I'll see if I can take a picture of it tomorrow

Re: Rare Gibsons and Vintage Epiphones
I used to have a 1954 Epiphone Centery. It was similiar to the one shown in the picture except it was missing the original knobs and it had white pickguard. I should have never sold it. It was a great sounding and playing guitar.

I just love the look of Epi Crestwoods...
This AMAZING 1964 Crestwood caught my eye the other day when browsing the net... one of the prettiest guitars I´ve ever seen.
Has something to do with the green colour and the cool logo thingy on the tailpiece. Sold to some lucky soul!

Here´s the infopage on this guitar: http://www.mainstreetvintageco.com/cata ... 138089.htm

Anyone ever hear of an Epiphone Al Caiola model?

I pronounced that in my head as the Al Qaeda model. There is definitely something wrong with my brain.1946dodge wrote: Anyone ever hear of an Epiphone Al Caiola model?

If they aren't why can't I find a wilshire for sale anywhere online?chrisjedijane wrote: Yeah, I doubt that Epiphone's "Limited editions" are anyhting of the sort. I bought my Epi '56 RI goldtop about 6 or 7 years ago, and even though it says "limited edition" they're still making them!!!

Re: Rare Gibsons and Vintage Epiphones
The Al Caiola model from the ebay listing:
When I was 26 and I got my first guitar, a white maple neck stratocaster, he said "great guitar". Go slow - learn everything in slow motion and then practice.
I was at a wedding and he was there and of course someone asked him to come up and play the guitar.
You can always tell a professional by the way they handle the guitar - it was effortless for him.
I was never crazy about the kind of music he played but like all good musicians he could play anything.
Gee if I wanted one of his model guitars I'd have to pay over 4000 dollars.
The reason that it came to mind is that Al Caiola's wife Rosalie is my godmother (she is my mother's cousin).1968 Epiphone Gibson Al Caiola model, rare red finish. This is a great guitar,16" wide, thin body, 2 p-90's. 2 knobs and 5 switches plus pickup selector switch 25 1/2" scale. Basically,a non "F" hole ES330 with varitone electronics. These are incredible guitars and were well loved by L.A. studio musicians in the late '60s. Non original case. All original. Only red one I've ever seen. Hoboken Vintage 201-222-8977 .
