I sometimes look at LPs, and they're nice and almost get to me, but I shake it off. No way.
I bought one of these and will not look back for any HB Gibson LP

You can play a lot of nice music on a Les Paul.

All this LP talk actually inspired me to take my trusty '84 to practice last night and I was reminded all over again why I've kept it all these years. There's nothing quite like that crunchy overdriven goodness.

Someone and i are thinking similar thoughts...
I was going to name-drop GbV's Mitch and Tobin,
along with Joey and Kim in the pixies. That old Goldtop actually belongs to Kim, apparently.
Even Kellie and Kim in the Breeders.
J Mascis had an ancient Goldtop for a while. And possibly still does?
I've even seen Sonic Youth throwing an old LP around with reckless abandon...
The rhythm guy in Mastodon too.
I'm even in a similar position to the OP having an old SG Special.
And my best friend has a REALLY nice playing (and sounding) R6 Goldtop.
But I can't help thinking I'd like a nice two-pickup Custom in Black or Silverburst.
AND a Firebird.
I like Explorers, have previously had two copies (One was a Hamer), but they weigh a TON carrying them any distance in a case...
But I'd shy away from a 3 pickup LP Custom with a Bigsby.
Another friend had one of those with a heavy leather strap full of studs.
I swear that guitar weighed almost as much as my old Tele AND the Jazzmaster together.
Gretsch Rocket jets and Pro- jets or whatever the model is are OK, but they're semi-hollow, so the sustain and overall tone differs from a good Lester.
To add to my bias I've been listening to Neil Young and Crazy Horse all week.
