Yeah, I've played one or two of those, they suck pretty bad.

My first electric was a Vantage VS. My dad got it from a guy he worked with who played in bands in the '70s. It sounded like dog shit. I hated humbucking PUs for years as a result. I think I convinced myself that all humbucker equipped guitars must sound like that. I got my first Fender soon after...

My 76-77 Univox Les Paul copy is a piece of crap and I love it. I got it at a thrift store.
