OK, as you know I'm modding my buddy's Squier Tele for him. He's getting Klusons, an AVRI '62 Custom bridge with matching pickup, a Seymour Duncan '59 humbucker, an orange drop, new pots, new wiring, new switches.

Now, I don't like the white guard on his guitar. So I'm thinking black. But what other ideas do you guys have? Any photographic evidence for why your idea is cool?

I reckon you should shoot for black. Now i have no photographic proof that black guard on a sunburst tele looks good, but i have seen it and i think it looks awesome.

Mint is good, black is good. I voted for mint, though. Just because i have a mint guard on my sunburst tele too

Black looks good too, but i always connect that with SRV. Nothing wrong with that, but it's not what i'd go for. More of a Greenwood fanboy than SRV

I voted for black. But since I'm going with black on my sunburst Jazz Bass I'm modding, I may be biased.

And to be the truth, since I've seen this pic:

I think the aged/creamy pearloid looks ace, at least on a SB Tele. With an ash body. And binding.

Black

- if it has binding I'd say a 3 ply
- no binding = one ply
