Hello - that is a lovely bass! I recognise it by the missing saddle and white strap button. Well done indeed! I’ve only ever seen one other for sale about 20 years ago and it was out of my reach. I bet it sounds amazing! I am lucky bough to have a blonde1959 500/5 with a similar body, the depth of bass is brilliant. Flat wound strings of course.
I wonder if you can help me please? I have another Höfner semi bass body and would love to build a six-string neck.
Please would you be kind enough to send me measurements of the width of the fretboard at both ends, and the width across the strings?
I recently restored a Hagström Coronado Bass VI and I have the urge to build a semi!
I do hope you can help, and that you continue to enjoy your fabulous Höfner.
Many thanks,
Matt

Many years back I had a girlfriend whose ex had left behind a vintage Hofner (Club?) bass, ostensibly for their daughter to learn on, that had been stripped of its electronics and plugged. It was an absolute joy to play, and sounded really nice acoustically.
Congrats on the Grail. News to me too, and looks like a fine instrument.

It's basically the Stuart Sutcliffe bass but the 6 string version. Great condition, the best colour(imo), complete.. and sounds amazing acoustically or plugged in and plays really great too.

Please make a YouTube video or a upload sound samples to SoundCloud. I’d love to hear this!

A couple months ago when I was dead broke I missed out on an ultra rare Höfner 188 (Bass VI kinda) solid offset bass for about €600. Damn!!!
i love delay SO much ...that i procrastinate all the time.

How strong are the pickups and do you think they are designed as bass PUPS or guitar PUPs?
relaxing alternative to doing actual work ...

Pretty strong. No idea on the pickups. It really does sound great though. I bought it as as an oddball thing, never expecting it to sound as good and useable as it actually is. Its a gem.sookwinder wrote: ↑Tue Nov 10, 2020 5:06 amHow strong are the pickups and do you think they are designed as bass PUPS or guitar PUPs?

I LOVE this bass! We should start a club for people who love fully hollow basses. Please tell me that this came with a case! If not, finding one seems like it could be tough.

No case, but its the same as a 500/5...probably could get one with some searching and perseverance.

That's great..thanks for posting..I think that is a later one with different pickups and pickup spacing. But yeh that's quite close to how mine sounds.Bronco Billy wrote: ↑Tue Dec 08, 2020 12:48 amBuddy Miller plays one.
