Re: The fake Rickenebacker thread
This feels very much like it came from the same factory that did the Danelectro reissues in the late 1990s. That's around the time I saw this on eBay. Of course, the listing got pulled. A bit later someone told me about a pink copy they saw on Gbase. I had to have it. I customized it a bit and it plays and sounds great. I don't play it live much, usually a cancer benefit, or whatever occasion seems like it really needs a Peptol-Bismol pink guitar. Behold...

This particular guitar has waken my GAS after a loong time!tribi9 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2019 10:19 amI figured we could also use a fake Rickenbacker thread.
I've had about five by now..
-Dillion 350 copy. Really awful neck, bad pickups MIK.
-Jay Turser 350 copy, probably same factory as the Dillion as they were both equally crappy.
-Semihollow, No name Chinese copy I got from Doug aka Fullerplast. This one was very nice and light.
-Jaguar 350 copy, just another mediocre copy.
I currently own this one, it's beautiful and plays fantastic. Double bound, blocks and binding. Made in the 90s by the Greco company. Its got one hell of an amazing neck that words cannot describe properly.

Just sold it last month. That being said, I've owned way more than 5 copies. In fact i usually have a copy around and have done so, since I was 20.muffonrat wrote: ↑Thu Apr 15, 2021 1:27 pmThis particular guitar has waken my GAS after a loong time!tribi9 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2019 10:19 amI figured we could also use a fake Rickenbacker thread.

What made me go for a copy was this write up:

Also the fact that these copies have a wider nut helped a lot

Remember that 330 copy that theolderbrother made? Must have been 2009-2010. Around the time I joined OSG. Amazing build thread. What a guitar! I'll link the thread if I can find it.
Edit: I couldn't find the original thread but it looks like sookwinder archived it.

Re: The fake Rickenebacker thread
i use to own one of these in dodgier condition:
it was a fun guitar, but definitely more teisco than rickenbacker in pretty much every conceivable way aside from some clear design "inspiration".
solid it so i could move to CA i think, still miss it though- it played really well and nailed that kind of pawn-shop '90s garage-rock sound.
