I just took off the
other 6 strings from my Vox 12-string.
I've now got a 6-string Ultrasonic with a slightly wider neck. Suits me perfectly!!
I'll still be using it as a 12-string too but I'm really chuffed with the feel of it as a 6-string. Due to my clumsy fingers & the fact that I've been used to wider classical acoustic necks its great. So damn easy to play!!
Kinda sacrilegious but who cares.

It just temporary. Honest!!
I actually had a novel idea for plugging the holes using rubber earplugs!!
At the moment the headstock looks like this.....
....apologies for the gratuitous foot-shot. I had to steady the camera with my knees due to the lack of light.
EDIT - Hard to believe its 1:30 in the morning.

NOOOOOO!!!!! flashing LED lights! there is a certain kind you can get at craft stores that are in a little round chrome case and are powered by watch battery. some have magnets in the base..sometimes i cover the chrome plates of my Jag with them for instant light show...they are about the size of a tuner hole, they might just slide in...the ones i've seen are red, green or blue...$1.19 each!

sleeping on a bed of fuzz and feedback

most tuners will rattle when you play if they're not strung...

My favorite 6-string acoustic is a mid-60s Fender Shenandoah XII. I had a new nut put on last year and just had six grooves notched in - I can barely play 6, no need for 12.

I almost bid on a 6-string neck & Starstream-copy body sold "as-is" for a project. The body was totally stripped but it was the neck I wanted.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... :IT&ih=014
This was before I realized that, rather than changing the whole neck I could just take 6 strings off & have a wider necked guitar. The best of both worlds. Also I think the neck pocket would have gaps due to the (possibly) narrower neck.
Incidently, I had it with 9-strings last night, leaving the A,E & D strings off. This way I could play some dirty fuzz/treble/repeater basslines & nice trebly melodic strums too.
Barring 12-strings is a chore to say the least, especially as the tension of 12-strings seems to raise the action.

How long have you had this for?
I didn't know any OSG members had a 12 string Ultrasonic, which happens to be one of my dream guitars. Will you please show me lots of pictures of it, in 12 or 6 string mode?
