I honestly had no idea what would make me like it until you suggested that.

Yeah, I probably will get around to that... and gold string trees, I guess, while I'm at it.smjenkins wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 6:38 pmBrass tuners to match, or at least gold ones?Jonesie wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 6:10 pmIt's big, stupid and 70s. I sank a lot of money into it already, so it'll just have to be what you see for a bit. It plays good, and sounds great... I can play dress up dolls later.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

That's super rad! Is that an Ed 'O Brien body?
Hey, I just grabbed a Road Worn 50's Vintera that I absolutely adore (it smells amazing), but I'm not a fan of the frets or the 7.5 radius — the low E falls off the fretboard with almost no effort. I've had it set up and everything but it's still annoying me. Don't know if it's because of the "road-worn-ness" or what.
I was thinking about grabbing one of those roasted maple necks, as it has a 9.5 radius, bigger frets, and the big dumb headstock for which I am an absolute simp. Any regrets about that purchase? Are the frets good? Talk me into it.

Right-click the image in imgur and choose “copy image”. It copies the real home url for the image. Then put that in the /img tags.WillPhistre wrote: ↑Wed Jul 28, 2021 4:02 pm

Yep! I'm not a Radiohead fanboy, but the setup on this thing - with the Sustainer and bridge humbucker - was too good to pass on. I managed to scoop the loaded body from Reverb for a very good price, which worked out great because...
I'm a huge fan of the CBS headstock and roasted maple necks in general, and I don't have a bad thing to say about this one. It's gorgeous in person, the frets are nice and it played great straight out of the box. I thought I might have to bust out the nut files, but strung it up with 11s and it's just super.I was thinking about grabbing one of those roasted maple necks, as it has a 9.5 radius, bigger frets, and the big dumb headstock for which I am an absolute simp. It worked! Thanks. Looks like it just adds ".jpg" to the imgur link. I'll try to remember that!

Excellent, that's great to hear. No problem with the neck heel fitting or screws lining up?fever606 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 7:02 amYep! Re: all of the sudden i love strats
I saw this on the interwebz years ago...
SYMPATHY FOR THE STRATOCASTER
Please allow me to introduce myself
I’m an axe of style and taste
I’ve been around more than fifty years now
And I sleep in a tweed case.
And I was ’round when Holly said he'd not fade away
That boy burned with a fierce light
But I'm still here today
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name
I'm made in a factory
But there are no two the same
I stuck around Monterey
When I saw it was a time for a change
Jimi played a set, he was on fire
And then he did the same to me
The audience screamed with joy
At his great knack for sustained feedback
And the crowd went wild
For his sense of style
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name, oh yeah
You can retrofit me
But I still remain the same, oh yeah
I watched with glee while your Gibson fans
Kept shifting over
In their loyalty
People always asked
What made them change their brand?
When after all It was little old me
Let me please introduce myself
I am the one who set them free
The multitude of troubadours who chose
My contours and the pickups three
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, um yeah
Sometimes I'm clean and mean
Sometimes I just go insane
Just as a man who cannot speak
Can pick me up an learn to sing
And as he wails
Calls out "Stratocaster!"
’cause I’m in need of some restraint
So if you meet me, you will realize
Have some empathy, and some taste
Use all the talents you possess
And you'll be Stratocasterized
Pleased to meet you
Now you know my name, um yeah
Born in '54 since then
The world's never been the same
Woo, who
