Incoming SG Special NGD!
A 6lb and 6oz SG Special in Faded Pelham Blue coming my way. My first proper electric was a black SG standard and I’ve kicked myself for getting rid of her. Haven’t owned a Gibson in over 8 years now.
Really excited about this one. I’ve combed the internet looking for sound samples. It is few and far between finding someone not playing gritty blues through a Marshall with them. Excited to see how it sounds through a JC-120 and my mess of reverb and delay. I’ve never played a wrap around bridge. The seller tells me this one has hand wired electronics whereas some of the earlier ones had PCB. Any have any experience with these models? Or vintage ones?

Wrap around bridges are the best.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

SGs are awesome and Pelham blue looks great on them.
I really like the SG Special.
One thing Gibson is really good at is making P90s. I've never wanted to change one out. They just sound right.

Thanks guys. I’m beyond excited. I almost pulled the trigger an an SG Classic a few years ago, but these seem to tick all the right boxes with vintage charm.

What is particularly good about them, Larry?
A friend of mine who is a “blues lawyer” tells me they’re tougher to intonate.
Us offset players I feel are immune to that rubbish. I’m also thinking about putting a period correct vibrola on it. Idk...just depends on how it is when I get it.

Oh, they just sound very good. Nothing but pure sound.

I think you'll see. The acoustic resonance really peals out with a single saddle bridge.

No, it would not. You mean a Lyre type thing?

Re: Incoming SG Special NGD!
Yes, but the more vintage correct one for this model. Not the one with the long tail piece. I’ve always loved the look, and as an offset guy I love trems. I do worry about potentially introducing tuning problems..but I’ve also read that these trems behave better than Bigsbys. They definitely look better.

Re: Incoming SG Special NGD!
Nice! I've got the very same same model...ultra light also. Neck is a bit chunkier than on my other SG Special, but great feeling.
I can recommend putting on an amber switch tip. Looks at least 7% better
