Nice! I've got the very same same model...ultra light also. Neck is a bit chunkier than on my other SG Special, but great feeling.

I can recommend putting on an amber switch tip. Looks at least 7% better :D
Definitely an amber switch tip! What are your thoughts on it? I’ve never owned a p90 Gibson.

Well, the P90s can get kinda noisy at times but they're definitely worth it. Chimey and fat at the same time, yet very articulate.

Ergonomically speaking, SG's are a perfect fit for me.

Mine is very light, like yours, but not excessively neck heavy. It's also my first Gibson with a wraparound bridge and I can confirm that it's extremely resonant.

You're in for a treat!

I think you’ll like it a lot. I had a white SG special a few years back that was really great. I moved it on and really wish I hadn’t. The p90s are exceptional. I agree with Larry, too - the wraparound bridge was wonderful. The whole guitar resonated with each strum.

I had a Gibson Les Paul Junior in Pelham blue with a wraparound. I miss that guitar something awful.

This SG would make me miss it less.

Interest piqued. I was super interested in a '61 classic that weighed in < 7lbs, but it sold before I could scoop up the funds. I've never had an SG less than ~8.5 pounds so this is definitely of interest to me.

The pelham blue SG is amazing looking. Almost every instrument in my house is Fender and I'm mostly a bass player, but when I play guitar, my number one these days is a 2007 SG Classic with P90s I picked up a year ago. Guy I bought it from claimed he put in Lollars, I have no easy way or even desire to check, as I paid $600 and the instrument sounds great. Mine's super light. The neck's a little chunkier than I'd like and in an ideal world I suppose I'd prefer a Fender neck scale, but all the same, it's the guitar I pick up when I want to do guitar stuff. I've got two Jazzmasters with Pure 65s and they are noisy as hell, the P90s in my SG are very quiet. Which makes me think, does somebody make humbuckers that fit in P90 cases, and the guy who sold it to me left that out? In any case, I'd love a blue SG like the OP.

Yeah, idk how many times I almost pulled the trigger on an SG classic. Even though the one I ordered isn’t here yet, I’ve kind of gotten SG/Gibson fever again. I wonder about the potential for noise. I’m not sure if I’ll be bothered by the noise or not. Sometimes I feel it’s just part of rock and roll right? Lol

I’ve not played a ton of SGs honestly. I thought they were mostly light. My old standard wasn’t heavy but back then I didn’t care about weight so I never really knew the weight of it. Now that I play a lot standing up for long sets it makes a difference. The the weight of my first Jaguar taught me I would rather have something lighter.

I kinda want a 61 RI now too...I always wanted one, could have, but this Pelham Blue Special one won out in the end

With guitars, I'm totally used to hum and have always gone with singles regardless. But the P90s on my SG are really quiet even with plenty of distortion. That, for me, is an upside to my SG over my Jazzmasters.

Am I the only one who thinks this Faded Pelham Blue looks a bit like Gibson's take on Ice Blue Metallic?

In that picture, yes, they do look very similar. Almost identical. I’m excited to see it up close when it arrives. I’ve seen other stock photos where the SGs sometimes have a more greenish/gray tint to them. Maybe the aged effect that Gibson put on them. I’ll upload some better photos when this one gets here and will give a more thorough review of the color

Congrats! I’ve played a few of these and loved every one, and love them in concept, unfortunately I can’t get on with the two colors they come in.

I would pull the trigger tomorrow on a walnut one if it was an option!

Can’t wait to hear how you like this one, I’ll agree that the wrap tail is something else. Really adds a ringing character that’s tough to describe - you really do feel it though.

Good to hear you’ve had some experience with them and enjoyed. They say Gibson has suffered in the quality control for the last few years but I’ve heard these newer guitars are better. That’s what gave me the confidence to go ahead with it. With that in mind my 09’ standard was perfect and I understand they were hit and miss. I feel like fender is no different in that regard.

The whole Gibson poor quality control thing is largely internet myth. I'm not saying that there aren't some example of it out there, but it's nothing like one would think based on the endless rumors.
