You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

Re: Epiphone Casino Refin (is happening!)
I have a few Epiphones but I have never managed to grab a Pelham Blue one.
This Casino looks superb!
FWIW the only colour guard on an Epiphone can be a white/parchment.
Black is for Gibsons.
Them the rules

Hahahaha yeah parchment is the way I'm keeping it and is also true to the vintage example I based it off of. Someone mentioned doing a parchment truss rod cover but that wouldn't be vintage correct The black looks good but makes the finish seem darker.sookwinder wrote: ↑Fri Oct 30, 2020 5:57 amI have a few Epiphones but I have never managed to grab a Pelham Blue one.

Btw Sookwinder, did you ever see that they're making a new USA Casino? It was supposed to come out this summer and has been continually pushed back - the Royal Tan with the small headstock is calling my name even though I can't justify a high end Casino after this...not yet. I know you've got the real deal though so no need

That color is so beautiful, I think I'd just leave the pickguard off.

Looks awesome. I prefer the black pickguard, but they both look good.

Did you contemplate leaving the neck with just clear coat like on those funky sg melody makers?
If it wasn't for disappointment, I wouldn't have any appointments.

Never understood why that was a thingseenoevil II wrote: ↑Mon Nov 02, 2020 10:31 amDid you contemplate leaving the neck with just clear coat like on those funky sg melody makers?
Think I'm sticking with parchment. Now to make it permanent - when I decided to go with the Gibson style pickguard bracket, I didn't realize it involved gluing the guard to a block mounted on the bracket. Also surprised at how much that bracket pokes out into your leg when sitting down, kind of annoying but visually I think it looks a bit nicer than the standard Epiphone bracket. I've been using double sided tape but I'm not sure that'll hold for all that long. Anyone else got any tips for this?

Re: Epiphone Casino Refin (is happening!)
Hey all - maybe I missed it but in all the talk about stripping the Casinos, I don't see anyone mention if the SOUND QUALITY has improved? That was, of course, the main reason Donovan suggested it to John and George in India... I've recently come into a MIJ Casino and quite enjoying it but thinking about emulating the stripped finish. I've also never seen a really detailed account of who/how John+George stripped theirs, and if they re-coated them (nitro-cellulose?) or left them raw. If anyone has a link to a site w this info could you post it please?

Re: Epiphone Casino Refin (is happening!)
I can't speak to whether it improved at all sonically, as it was just a thin base clear coat on mine before the refin, but this guitar sounds great. I think if I remember right they sealed their guitars with a thin clear coat of nitro just to make sure the raw wood wasn't exposed, but I'm not a beatles expert so don't quote me.leeranaldo wrote: ↑Sat Feb 19, 2022 11:01 amHey all - maybe I missed it but in all the talk about stripping the Casinos, I don't see anyone mention if the SOUND QUALITY has improved? Which model MIJ Casino? I know there's a '65 reissue run of MIJ stuff that came with a factory nitro finish, but I don't recall what years. I wanna say it was like 2014 or so
