You definitely have a "type". :D

Is that gibson an ES-330L ?

It is an ES-330L, from around 2010 or so. They later made an ES-330L which had hum buckers and looked just like an ES-335, but it was fully hollow underneath.

The only one of them that I picked for being sunburst was the Firebird, and I wish I would have picked black or something. The rest of them I just got because the price was right, or it was a trade, or whatever. I never really want sunburst for the sake of sunburst. Weird that I ended up with so much of it.

They are all very nice. I like sunbursts, my first bass was a Sears sunburst jazz bass ripoff.

I don’t have any actual sunbursts, but my oldest bass and a guitar are marine sunburst (Ibanez).

The rest of my guitars & basses are either (somewhat age-yellowed) polar white, honey yellow bird’s eye or natural. Not sure why natural, maybe something subconscious because my 2nd bass was a natural Peavey T-40? Who knows.

Is that 335 an actual sunburst? It almost looks like a cross between a tobacco burst and a lemon burst in those pics - it seems a bit lighter than the others.

Those are all great-looking guitars. I'm down to just a single sunburst, don't particularly know why. I don't actually have anything against them, I just seem to gravitate toward other colours I guess.

Am I wrong to think Gibson does sunburst better than Fender? Fender sunbursts are all over the place, Gibson's always seem to have that nice yellow in the middle. I think I've had three sunburst Fenders over the years, and each looked very different, with my current Classic Player Jazzmaster on the very dark end of the scale.

You may be right- you could also say that the G&L Legacy there is more of a "clown burst", also. Maybe I should have called this just about bursts.

Thanks, it just got a lot of upgrades, new low wind P90s courtesy of Mike's recommended pickup winder Pete Biloft. Also an Ilitch noise cancelling system and the Duesenberg tailpiece there.

Still giving it a workout and setup and all.
