Anybody like lipstick pickups? I seem to.
I reorganized recently and realized it was a good opportunity to get a group shot.
L-R: Late 90's Dano U2 reissue, Sound Guitar Works roasted ash/roasted maple partsmaster with Nep-Tone pickups, Silvertone 1303/U2 reissue, late 90's Dano U1 reissue.
The white Dano is really my go-to. When not playing with a band I tend to play fingerstyle and it's really the perfect electric for that. It's also my only guitar that has a name - Toru after the protaganist in The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle. It had a blue stain on the top that mysteriously appeared and disappeared. The only mod is Allparts Kluson-style tuners in place of the stock ones.
The SGW partsmaster needs some further work (deepening of the neck pocket and fretwork), but is still pretty cool. It has a really great spy movie guitar sound as you might expect. It has a pretty chunky one piece neck which gives it a Tele feel.
The 1303/U2 used to me my main band guitar. It's solid mahogany neck and body. I had a silverburst one until recently but sold it to my drummer. This one has a slightly chunkier neck and is the heavier of the two. It has more of a slashing "blizzard of nails" sound than the Danos. It's stock at the moment, but I'd eventually like to switch it to master volume/master tone and maybe change out the pickguard for brass or celluloid.
The U1 is technically my wife's. I think I may switch it to Nashville tuning.

That's a great pack of lipstick guitars. I doesn't help my gas for a Dano. I love lipsticks, definitely one of the most underrated pickups.

Thanks! Yeah, Surfcasters are really cool. I don't see them on the wild as often anymore.

i like lipstick pickups but dont have any in my guitars atm. however i did recently buy a early 00's danelectro NOS lipstick pickup that's never even been fitted. part of me wants to hold onto it because it's still in the box and that. part of me wants to fit it because "fuck collectors"

Fuck Yeah!
I've owned 4 Talmans, 3 Danos, a Jackson Outcaster, Daisy Rock Butterfly.
The guitar I had built for me has a set of GFS black lipsticks.

I'm a fan!
I have two 90s-era Danelectros: a DC-2 and a Convertible. They're great!
I've often thought about modding my Strat and Firebird VII to have lipsticks in the middle and neck positions.
I just glanced at the new Squier Panaorama Cyclone: shell pink modded with lipsticks would look (and probably sound) fabulous!

I've owned a bunch of Danelectros, both vintage and reissue. Here's one that I don't own, but refinished a few years back.

Have one in my bronco bass, it is ok but kinda wish I went for a quarter pounder, maybe a future upgrade if I can convince my luthier to further cut up the pick guard he labored over for days. x)

the GFS/artec ones are like 90% of the typical lipstick sound. the seymour duncan ones are kinda "lipsticks but more grunt"

Re: Anybody like lipstick pickups? I seem to.
I installed some about fifteen years ago on a Squier 51. They were GFS and probably not a good representation of lipstick pickups. Kind of a cool sound but very thin sounding. Again, cheap MIC versions though.
