El Maya Les Paul Custom

I have been wanted to get my hands on a Japanese "Lawsuit" Era Les Paul Custom for a while. The odds of me getting a Gibson one seem smaller and smaller as they keep going up in price.
Out of the blue the other day, an old friend gave me this one that has been sitting in her basement un-played for a decade.
Its pretty sweet, it says "El Maya" on the headstock. Its a set neck 3 pickup model. I bought some strings and a truss rod wrench that fits and have now cleaned it up.

I have an El Maya copy of an L6S and it is a righteous guitar! Better than the Gibson version, which wasn't that hard in that era.
Well built, sounds great and aging beautifully.

Man 3-pickup Gibsons look so badass, even though the middle one always gets in the way (I have my dad's old SG Custom).

And I love old "lawsuit guitars" above all!

I have an Ibanez (with a bolt-on neck, though) LP Custom and it's one of my favourite guitars despite it's heavy as fuck. How's the weight on the El Maya?

Yeah it’s definitely pretty heavy!
