Eddy Grant’s LP Special

There’s a couple clips from The Equals (or just Equals) that feature Eddy Grant goin’ nuts with a beat up, double-cut TV LP Special, but this one has a clear shot of it where you can see he has bumped the bridge P-90 to the middle and stuck a humbucker in the bridge.

Stand Up And Be Counted is tuff as nails, and that guitar has so much style I cain’t stand it. I can’t find any interweb reference to that particular axe at all. Anybody have any secret knowledge?

I don't but this is cool as hell. I should check out the Equals more.

Also I've got a Double Cut LP Special that I've been trying to rewire, should probably get back to that...

Looks like the video was filmed in Hampton Court?

The best shot of the guitar is actually the best part of the song 2mins 10 seconds.... faux wang bar?

Holy shit!! Who knew?!

Guitar aside...Electric Avenue was huge when I was a kid & years later I had a college friend who lived on that very street. It felt very much like a home from home, seeing as Brixton was very similar to Chapeltown (a neighbourhood in Leeds, my hometown).

I know Eddy Grant had a massive following but I've never seen this before & never knew he went back so far! Hilariously cool!!!

Eddy Grant's guitar sound is tops! That sharp, buzz/fuzz really accentuates the groove of the song.

Of course! Baby Come Back. I'd totally forgotten about this track.

Sorry, total thread derail but, is that a Wandre being played too?

I think his Wandre got more attention - there are more photos floating around of him playing that in the early days of the band. Toilet-seat rockers ain’t afraid.
